Right now, I have $31 in my chequing account, and that’s just about normal for me. I never go below about a $25 buffer, or above $50 … I hate the thought of that much money wasting away for nothing, when it could be earning me interest in a savings account. So I keep the smallest amount possible that I’m comfortable with. Like a few other PF bloggers out there, I’m one of those people who pays for everything with a credit card. Of course, I don’t carry a balance, and I pay it off before the end of the … Continue reading
It seems like we are always focused on staying away from purchasing big ticket items to save money. For those of us on a budget, we know we shouldn’t be buying that big screen TV, or that new car … or even that cute purse we’ve been drooling over for the past month at that great store on the way to work. But what are some ways we can save money on things we need on a day to day basis? It dawned on me this evening as I was rinsing out plastic zip-lock bags from my lunch box, that … Continue reading
I’ve posted about it before, and some of you may know I’ve been going to the same hair stylist for 5 years now, and I love her. She gives me fantastic cuts, but she comes with a $58 price tag each time (plus a $10 tip = $68). The last time I was there, she suggested I get highlights in my hair, and I’d love to, since I’ve never gotten it done before … but it’s going to cost $120 (on top of the $58 hair cut … plus a bigger tip) if she does them. Ouch. Anyway, I’ve decided … Continue reading
I have been speaking with someone who might hire me to do some contract work on an on-going basis. It will pay $25/hr, and I’d basically be creating book layouts in Adobe InDesign for offset printing, or digital print-on-demand. The pay isn’t that great as far as contract work goes, but a few of my friends work full-time for a publishing company doing book layouts, and they only make $12-14/hr. Plus, I’m just getting started. Fingers crossed that I get the job! Last night, I made Texas chicken pizza for dinner. There’s just something about rolling out my own pizza … Continue reading
For all you frugal Canadians out there, I have another awesome site for you to check out: Save.ca Basically it’s a coupon site, where you select the coupons you want, and they’ll mail it to you for FREE! They even pay the postage! I don’t exactly know what’s in it for them, but I think the manufacturers must provide them a spin off for giving away coupons for their products to consumers who are most likely to buy them. Anyway, I wanted to test it out and see if it worked, so I ordered a $2-off coupon for Pantene Pro-V … Continue reading
