An update on a rainy weekend

Today was a really relaxing day. BF and I slept in late, and then he made me a yummy breakfast (lunch). In the afternoon, we went for a walk to Crystal Falls. It was really nice and I stuffed my face full of huckleberries and salmonberries that were growing along the trail. Then this evening, we came back to my house for dinner and a movie. We made a conscious effort not to dine out at all this weekend. I won’t see him again until tomorrow evening, and I don’t anticipate even leaving my house tomorrow, so I’m sure that we will both succeed.

I got 2 free tickets to go see Kid Rock tomorrow. I don’t like Kid Rock at all (plus I have to work on my presentation for the interview on Monday), and nobody I know in Vancouver can (or wants) to go to the show. So I put them up for sale on Craigslist for $50/pair. I’m hoping that since tickets were $82/each after Ticketmaster charges, I will be able to sell them. Otherwise, oh well. They sold as soon as I posted the ad, so tomorrow morning I’m meeting the guy at a busy intersection by my house. Sweet!

Also, I’m forever in debt to BF. He’s letting me borrow his car (again) to go to my interview on Monday (which is maybe an hour’s drive away). I don’t like to be dependent on someone when I have a tough situation to get through, but I am very grateful that he is so willing to help me.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I’m going to go for a run tomorrow morning, and then spend the afternoon working on my presentation for Monday. :) I’ve been thinking of some good topics to bring up, so I just have to create some sort of PowerPoint presentation to illustrate my points.

Money coming in

My sister e-mailed me and told me that my $100 Climate Action Dividend cheque has arrived in the mail. So I called my mom and asked if she would mail it over to me, since I probably won’t be on the island again until mid-August – the longest time I’ve been away from home since 2005!

Anyway, I also asked my mom if she could write me a personal cheque, since she owes me $180. My sister owes me $160, so I asked her to send that along as well.

So if they do that … by next week I should have $440 coming into me. And that’ll definitely help me pay for all of the hiking/camping stuff I’ve been buying over the past week.

Speaking along the same lines, BF wants me to get into outdoor rock climbing. I’ve said it before, that’s something I really want to do. But I can’t afford to buy my own climbing shoes at the moment. Today after work we’re going to MEC so I can pick up those gaiters for hiking this weekend, and I’ll probably take a quick look at the shoes as well. Perhaps next month I’ll be able to get them.

Feeling a little sad

I just talked to BF for the last time, and he’s going to board the plane for the mountain in just about an hour. He’s really excited, and I’m excited for him. I’m sitting here in my cubicle, and I kind of want to cry, but I won’t. Because I’ve done enough of that over the weekend.

So instead, I’m keeping myself occupied. I just accepted my first mystery shopping assignment. It will pay me $60 and I have to go to a store and interact in 5 departments. It shouldn’t be too hard, and it seems like easy money. I’m going to read over the assignment and complete it tomorrow evening. I’ll let you know how it goes.
