Spent $22.16 Friday night for me and the BF on drinks and appys for my friend’s birthday. I budgeted an extra $20 out of my dining out budget this month b/c of her birthday, so I don’t feel badly at all! Plus, that’s not a lot of money for 2 drinks and 2 appys anyway. Although, the nachos were a disappointment! :) Yesterday, I spent $7.16 at Starbucks before we had to go to the arena. I bought my usual tea for $1.70, but my sister bought a fancy drink. I didn’t mind though. We also got an oat bar … Continue reading
I think I love my part-time job more than my full-time job. With my part-time job, along with coordinating my staff, and making sure all the promotions run smoothly and on time, I’m also on the microphone. Have you ever been to an event, and there’s someone on a microphone in the crowd talking to someone, doing a contest, asking a trivia question, etc? Well, that’s me. The reason why I mentioned this is because this Saturday, for our last shift of the year, we sold out the event! For the first time in our organization’s history (we’re only 3 … Continue reading
Some of you may know I’m currently on a one-year contract maternity leave position with a municipal government. I’ve been here since November, and I’ve learned a lot. But I’m beginning to realize that this job isn’t going to last forever (not that I’d want it to, but let’s just keep that between you and me). There is one co-worker I really get along with, and we’ve been talking about the job market, and what’s out there. She asked if I was actively looking for another position, and when I told her I wasn’t, she was shocked. She said that … Continue reading
Recently, a few people have asked me how the heck I’ve been able to decrease my student loan debt in such a short period of time … so I figure I’d blog about it instead. :) My goal from the moment I first took out a student loan was to pay everything back one year after graduating. I heard stories of people taking 15 or 20 years to pay it all off, and I did not want that weight on my shoulders, even though I knew it was “good debt.” I didn’t actually start paying off my student loans until … Continue reading
I just found out that a good friend of mine got fired yesterday from basically her dream job. I don’t really know the details, but we both graduated from the same program together last year, and she’s an amazing graphic designer (a million times better than me). Anyway, it got me to thinking: if I lost my job right now, today, I’d be fvcked. Royally. I have less than $400 in my emergency fund, and debts still looming over my head. I need to pick it up, because I know I’ve been slacking at work the past month or so. … Continue reading
