Tomorrow BF and I have a date. Since we’ve been going out, we’ve never hung out in downtown Vancouver before, so I’m really excited. It’s such a great place to people watch, and there are so many cool little places and buildings and beaches to walk and see. It’s going to be a gorgeous day, and it will be a frugal way to spend time together. Usually we’re going hiking or doing something out of the city. It will be a nice change to have a city date. Maybe we’ll grab lunch downtown somewhere, or bring a picnic and have … Continue reading
Wow, what an amazing trip! The pictures don’t do it justice, they really don’t. Grimface Mountain was amazing, and I’m really proud that I was able to climb it. Day 1 – 7 hours of hiking up and through a valley. Day 2 – 1.5 hours of hiking up to the base of Grimface Mountain. We spent an hour or so exploring – which means hiking up up up. Other than that, it was a rest day. Day 3 – 5 hours of hiking up to the ridge and across to Grimface. Day 4 – 5 hours of hiking out … Continue reading
I forced myself out of my comfy bed this morning at around 5:30 to go for a run. I didn’t actually get out the door until just before 6am, but I ran for over 30 min. so that’s good enough for me. I really need to get into better shape. Whenever we go hiking, I always get cranky. Always. BF is sauntering along ahead of me, enjoying the views, meanwhile I’m just trying to keep up. I think I’d enjoy it a lot more if I were actually fit enough to keep up with his long legs. Don’t get me … Continue reading
A fun, but tiring weekend. BF had to work on Saturday, so I got to sleep in. :) Then I went to the gym, came home and cleaned up a bit, washed my car, and did a whole lot of nothing until he came home. We went grocery shopping ($45.81 – a little more expensive than usual), made burgers for dinner, and then went to MEC. J needed to buy a couple of things for his bicycle, and I ended up getting this headband thingy that can be used for 7 or 8 different functions. I thought that it might … Continue reading
Frugal Dreamer just tweeted that she was going hiking today. It made me start day dreaming about our next hiking trip at the end of this month. We are going to climb Grimface Mountain (2635 m / 8645 ft) in Cathedral Park. I’ve been wanting to do this since last year, but we’ve never had the time. But thanks to Canada Day, we’re tacking on 2 extra vacation days for a 5-day long weekend. BF said there are good rock climbing routes there. We’ll bring our climbing gear and hopefully get a day of climbing in after we summit. Then … Continue reading
