So if you couldn’t already tell, I got bored of the 30 Day Shred. I think I stopped at Day 21. I had been on Level 3 for the majority of the time (I think I moved to Level 3 on Day 6?) … and quite frankly, it was getting a little repetitive. And even if I threw in another level into my workout for variation, it was all just ho hum for me. Don’t get me wrong, it was still hard. I still found myself sweating buckets, and I certainly saw results. Plus I kept adjusting for heavier weights … Continue reading
So I just realized that my iPhone comes with the Nike+ built-in receiver. That’s awesome! I’ve always wanted to get the Nike+ iPod kit. So all I would need to do is buy the wireless sensor (Apple is selling it for $19, but I’m sure I can find it cheaper somewhere else). This would be perfect for me to be able to track all of my runs. Does anyone else use it? Is it worth the money?
Lately I have been inspired to pick up running again. When I was last home, my dad got to talking about when he used to run marathons – not competitively, just for his own personal satisfaction. He ran in a few city marathons before he had his stroke, and now he can’t really run anymore. He just walks a lot. And a few days ago, @karlwoll from OutdoorVancouver.ca mentioned that he was training to run a marathon, and recommended this book to me: The Non-Runner’s Marathon Trainer. I’ll be buying it from Amazon the next time I have enough Swagbucks … Continue reading
As for weekend exercise, on Saturday I did Day 22, Level 3 of the 30 Day Shred. I’m almost there! Feeling good about it, and looking forward to another challenge once this is over. Yesterday, BF wanted to get up at 2am to go on a long “day hike.” But when the alarm went off, he kept hitting snooze until 4am. :) We ended up leaving around 4:30am. Our goal was to climb Mt. Robie Reid (see picture I took from the logging road). We had to bring large packs with us because we brought our harnesses, rope, helmet, shovel, … Continue reading
I’m getting close to the end of my 30 (non-consecutive) day challenge. I can’t believe how much stronger my arms are now. I guess those traveling push-ups work! I’ve also stopped doing the Wii Fit yoga after my Shred workout. I just don’t find yoga to be worth it. 30 minutes of yoga burns minimal calories compared to something high impact. And while I understand the benefits of stretching and I know that it makes me more balanced and my muscles stronger, I find it oh so boring. So once I’m done this 30 Day Shred, I’m going to move … Continue reading
