Sunday Link Love: July 3, 2011

It’s been a long time since I did a Sunday Link Love, but it’s been a crazy few months. I hope everyone is having an awesome long weekend! The Vancouver Riots I’ve had a few people ask me in e-mail and Formspring what my opinion is on the riots. I’ve refrained from posting anything about it here on my blog, but I was tweeting a lot while it was happening, as well as the days following the incident. I think this article, Busting myths of Vancouver’s destructive Stanley Cup Riot (Globe and Mail) really sums up my feelings. It wasn’t … Continue reading

Sunday Link Love: May 15, 2011

It’s been a few weeks since I had the time to write out a Sunday Link Love post, but now that I’m somewhat settled into my new place, I have time to bring it back. But I did this time. Based on the comments received, I have three questions that … Continue reading

Are you Moneyville’s next blogger?

Some of you might know this already, but the Toronto Star’s Moneyville.ca is holding a contest to find a new blogger! When my editor first mentioned the contest, I was really excited. I think this is an amazing opportunity for people who are really interested in blogging about money, but might not have a personal finance background. Kind of like me. I have no formal education or training in finance, but I have a keen interest in everything related to money, and the willingness to learn more and help others. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have been … Continue reading

Some of you may already know (via Twitter) but… Give Me Back My Five Bucks has been nominated for Canada’s best personal finance blog for 2011! So hello to all of the new visitors coming in from the Globe and Mail article. :) For newcomers, here is a brief summary of me and my story: I am a 20-something personal finance blogger from Vancouver, BC. I am a former shopaholic who had over $20,000 in student loan and credit card debt by the time I graduated college. I was confused and lost when it came to figuring out how to … Continue reading
