Another normal week of spending. I started playing field hockey again which requires me to drive to Coquitlam twice/week. This is a little bit annoying because it costs me a lot in gas. But I really enjoy it, so I’ll keep doing it. I’m thinking of playing for a different club next year, but I really like the Coquitlam organization. So we’ll see.

Thursday evening Nic and I went to a local Pecha Kucha event, and it was pretty fun! I treated him to dinner in celebration of my first pay cheque at my new job. :)

Then, everything was going fine until Sunday, when I was a victim of impulse spending at Canadian Tire. I was just there getting a key cut, but ended up walking out with a frying pan for $29.99 (Reg. price $55.99), and some all-purpose cleaning spray. They weren’t technically impulse purchases because I don’t own a frying pan, and I ran out of cleaning spray, but I was only planning on buying a new key. :| I guess it could have been worse.

How was your week of spending?

  1. Hi Krystal:

I’m finding your blog really slow to load. Maybe I’m the only one experiencing this problem, but if not it might be something to look into.

I really enjoy the blog. Good luck with your goals!

    • Yeah I’ve been having issues the past few days… but all the back end stats look fine. I don’t really know what the problem is, but hopefully it resolves itself. Thanks for bringing it up!

  2. Just FYI, I have had the same issue with your site taking a long time to load lately. And what is Canadian Tire and why do they sell frying pans? I am in the US. :)

  3. I have gone through so much gas this week. Extreme cold followed by a few days of freezing rain and the car was doing more running just sitting in the driveway than it did on the road.

Scrape before work, scrape after work, scrape, scrape, scrape.
This reminds me that one of my life goals is to have a house with a garage that I can park in.

  4. Why isn’t your first pay cheque included on this list?

    • My spending recaps only show my discretionary spending and my freelance income. In the years I’ve been doing these reports, I’ve never put down income from my full-time job. :)

  5. Congrats on the new job!
I too have fallen victim to some awesome steals at Canadian Tire. They often have kitchen knives (or other gadgets) on sale at a fraction of their normal price… and it’s hard to pass up. Hey – at least it’s something useful!

  6. Hi Krystal!

I too have been finding the blog very slow to load. Also, I seem to remember that you used to have a way to read it on mobile devices? Did you take that away or have I somehow done something on my end so I can’t view it that way?

Either way, great blog! Absolutely love reading it.

    • I did change up the mobile look of my site. It now matches the theme better – and should still load properly. I just checked it on my iPhone.

Still trying to work out my website issues. I’m not sure what’s going on. Thanks!
