So basically having a job prevents me from spending pretty much any money during the work week. :) Which is a good thing, considering I dropped over $600 to repair my computer. That really hurt my bank account.
Another good thing is that my office is located just far away from any restaurants so that it’s a pretty big hassle to go out for lunch or snacks. I’ve been bringing my lunch to work every day, staying away from Starbucks (gasp!) and other coffee shops, and that’s really helping keep costs down.
Give Me Back My Five Bucks a quest for financial independence

Nice job with so many no spend days (~_~) I hope at least they have coffee at your work. By the way, do you know about faresaver tickets?
Yes, I have been meaning to pick up tickets, but I haven’t gotten around to it. I’m definitely taking transit a lot more than I thought I would be.
Great number of no spend days!
I wouldn’t worry too much about the computer repair since you need that to do work.
Secondly how was the movie?
The movie was actually really good! Super funny, and Ryan Adams was in it, so that was a bonus. :) Definitely recommend it, but might be worth waiting for it to come out on DVD.
If you’re a Scene member you can save even more on Tuesdays when you purchase your tickets online. It’ll be $6.75 per ticket when you buy the tickets online. Plus you can skip the long line and head to the theatre :)
Yeah I didn’t even think about that, because I really don’t go to the movies very often. I actually thought they got rid of cheap Tuesday movies! But I just signed up for the free Scene card, so the next time I go, I’ll be prepared. :)
Cineplex getting rid of their Tuesday discounts must be recent! I saw a movie during Christmas and it was cheap. But the Scene card is definitely worth it. Or you can always buy cheap movie tickets through charities for $8.75 per ticket. :)
I am attempting a no spend January but it is only the 17th and all my money is gone. My window has been iced up almost every day this month and running the car in the cold while I scrape and scrape messed with the amount I had budgetted for gas.
The real money waster was take out food. Stress at work = fast food. No excuses just laziness and waste. I don’t like to lose and the money is gone so we will be forced to eat my cooking for the rest of the month. That wouldn’t be so bad but cooking means dishes. Dishes are another reason I love take out.
Props on all those no spend days! I need to have more of those. My danger is that my office is situated right next to a drugstore, and the drugstore always sends me coupons for things that I like (not need!)… sigh. Even the little things add up!
I’m glad to hear the movie was good. I love Paul Rudd, so I was hoping to hear good things. I’ve been working through the Oscar nominations, trying to get them all in before the award so, so I’ve had to skip over it so far. Ryan Adams is awesome. I didn’t know he was in it.
so dealing windows or linux isn’t worth just buying a brand new computer for less than you just paid to repair your existing one?
I currently use both PC (at work) and Mac (at home), and for me a Mac is worth the price as my personal computer. I doubt I’d ever go back.
