Quebec Trip Recap

Well, I got back from my 1-week trip to Quebec over the weekend, and even though it was bitterly cold while I was there, and even though I didn’t have the guts to speak French (instead, relying on Nic to speak for me), I can’t help but wish I were still there. The province is beautiful, and I really enjoyed my time in Quebec City.

I didn’t create a specific budget for this trip, but in my head I was thinking I’d end up spending around $1,500. So based on what I actually spent, I did pretty well. Although, we didn’t pay for any accommodation, because we stayed with Nic’s friends and relatives for the entire trip. That significantly cut back on our expenses, and made the trip quite affordable.

Aside from airfare, you can see that I spent the majority of my money on food. That was to be expected, because there I wanted to eat at a few specific restaurants while on vacation. And really, $210 for food on a 1-week vacation is pretty good. Plus a couple of delicious home cooked meals provided by Nic’s family!

Nic’s parents generously loaned us one of their cars for the week I was there, which made life significantly easier and cheaper for us. We drove a lot in between cities, but once we got to where we were going, we parked the car and walked around everywhere, or took public transportation. Surprisingly, I had no interest in shopping. We wandered through a couple of awesome stores, but the only things I ended up picking up were gloves (from a dollar store), a toque (because I forgot to bring one), and some maple candy gifts that we hope give to any new friends we make in Germany.

The trip was great. I enjoyed meeting his friends and family, and exploring cities I’ve never been to before. We’re thinking of stopping in Quebec in August, on our way back from Europe. It would be nice to see the cities again when it’s a little bit warmer. :)

Highlights of the trip include:

  1. I’m impressed you only spent $210 on food between the great places to eat in Montreal and Quebec City!! Looks like you had a pretty amazing trip-hope it wasn’t too cold up in Quebec City. What is the last picture of? The St. Lawrence?

Great pictures! And I agree, $120 is an awesome low amount to spend of food, especially for one week.

Looks like a cool trip. I read Kathy Reichs novels and she makes Quebec sounds so interesting, though tragically cold!

Your Quebec trip looks absolutely amazing! I am so jealous. A trip to Montreal/Quebec City is on my horizons, once I get around to planning it.
