Well, this was an expensive week. And to top it off, I didn’t make any extra money. In fact, this is the first week since January that I haven’t made a single cent in freelance income. I mean, it was bound to happen, but I’m feeling like a bit of a slacker. I’m hoping this will give me the motivation to really push forward and earn more income in the weeks to come.

I ended up buying a 10x gym card this week. I’ve decided that I really do think 1x/week at the gym is good for me – especially becomes I go with a friend. It helps to break up the monotony of running outside every morning.

As for the excessive coffee shop expenses, I will say that half the money spent in coffee shops this week was work-related, and the other half was social. Working at home has been difficult, because I don’t have a defined work space and because my internet has been really spotty lately. I’ve called into Shaw Cable and they’re sending someone out to take a look. My goal in the next few weeks is to actually buy a desk and chair, and set up a workstation.

On a somewhat related note, I went downtown on Saturday for the first time since January. I live in the suburbs, so I find there’s really no need to go downtown. Plus, it’s expensive even to take the SkyTrain. But that being said, it was nice to walk around and remember why Vancouver is such a beautiful city. After seeing the insane photos from the riots last week, I loved reading the inspirational messages people were writing on the boarded up windows.

Finally, the grocery expenses were on the high side this week, but this has been my first grocery trip all month so I will end up coming well under my $200 food budget for June.

I love going downtown too just for the heck of it. We really do live in a great city. To cut down on transit expenses, I bought a 1-zone and a 2-zone book of 10 tickets each and use them whenever I need to. It's cheaper than buying a ticket on the bus or skytrain. You should get them if you haven't already.
