This was a good week for keeping my spending down. Because of my shorter commute, I don’t have to buy gas every week anymore, and (not that this is necessarily a positive thing) I was too busy to even go grocery shopping. But instead of going out for food, I ate what I had in my freezer and pantry. In fact, I don’t think I’ve even gone grocery shopping at all this month! Which is kind of pathetic, so maybe I’ll head to the store today after the hockey game. :)

Saturday I spent volunteering on a boat (with my flippy floppies) just off Granville Island. It was for an event called Boat For Hope, put on by Variety – The Children’s Charity. Basically we all dressed up like pirates and had a big massive water gun fight with a bunch of kids. It was a great event, gorgeous weather, with tons of boats involved, and the kids all had a great time.

On Sunday I went on a 10km run around Burnaby Lake with a guy who destroys half marathons (I Googled his race times, yeah I’m a stalker). I thought I was going to embarrass myself, but when it was over, I was a little disappointed. I didn’t pace myself properly (I had never run the trail before, so I didn’t know what to expect), and realized when we finished that I could have either gone for much longer than 10km, or at least ran at a much faster pace. I’ll know for next time. That run gave me the confidence that perhaps I can run a half marathon too. In the future. For now, I’m going to stick to improving my 10km time to under 50 minutes and training for field hockey tryouts in 2 weeks.

How do you spend $36 on lunch? Unless it WAS a date like Ban Clothing said and you paid…

I don't think a 10km run can be classified as a date. Can it?

it seems like every week you are making more in side income than you are spending! You are doing really well!!!

So I am attempting this no spend day concept and it's hard. :(

Also any type of bonding activity including running 10K qualifies as a date, albeit a weird one.
