WEEKLY EXPENSES: - $148.21
WEEKLY SIDE INCOME*: + $300
Expensive week! I now have a small arsenal of tools that I’ve been putting to good use this past weekend, because I also finally bit the bullet and spent money on furniture. Those purchases don’t reflect in this spending recap because it was money I had taken out of savings for my home purchase. I spent $800 and bought a TV stand, coffee table, and dresser from IKEA. I also bought a dining table, 2 chairs and a bench off Craigslist. My hand has basically turned into a claw from that dumb allen key.
I still need to buy a desk, shelving unit, and bed. So I’m going to be scouring Craigslist for good deals. I’d ideally like to spend around $1,500 on furniture in total, which I think is pretty good considering I’ve basically had to start from scratch and furnish my entire place (except for a mattress and couch).
* This is all income I bring in that is above and beyond my full-time job. Money is primarily made through my two blogs and my graphic design business.

Sometimes I think your weekly spending recaps are too fabricated. I mean I understand that you budget for your furinature but you still spent $800. It's kind of annoything!
Well it's not fabricated. My weekly spending recaps are a reflection of my monthly budget spending. If I've saved the money and it's coming out of savings, then it's not affected by my budget (because I have the cash in hand). If I'm spending money out of my pay cheques, then it is reflected in these spending recaps. I'm sorry you find it annoying, but that's how I keep track of my money.
I got a concentrated Lysol (or similar) cleaning agent and some spray bottles from the Dollar Store and ended up using it all year. I just diluted it with water and poured it in the spray bottles. If you're not brand loyal, that's an option! :)
What were the Ikea furniture items that you got? Did you end up getting the desk you were thinking of ordering online yet? Our home looks like an ikea home as well, pretty much :)
Furniture shopping is a pain in the butt, but you only have to do it once, which is nice :)
