Some of you might know this already, but the Toronto Star’s Moneyville.ca is holding a contest to find a new blogger!
When my editor first mentioned the contest, I was really excited. I think this is an amazing opportunity for people who are really interested in blogging about money, but might not have a personal finance background. Kind of like me. I have no formal education or training in finance, but I have a keen interest in everything related to money, and the willingness to learn more and help others.
I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have been given the chance to write for Moneyville for the past 6 months. It has brought me new experiences, new friends, extra income, and opportunity to grow as a blogger. I think it’s amazing to be writing alongside personal finance greats like Alison Griffiths and Ellen Roseman – not to mention the help and encouragement I’ve received from my very smart, always amazing editor, Adam Mayers. Yep, kind of sucking up here, but it’s true. He really is that great. :)
You could win up to $4,000 along with the chance to blog online for up to three months. Your work may also be published in the Star’s weekly Moneyville section. If you’re a runner-up there’s $500, plus the publication of your article.
So if you think you have what it takes, please, please, please enter. This is a fantastic opportunity!
Here’s how to enter:
1. Go to www.moneyville.ca and look at what we write about and our style. Browse our blogger lineup and the topic areas. Is there a niche for you?
2. Go the contest site nextblogger.moneyvillecontests.ca/ and post up to 500 words on the topic of your choice, along with a financial tip. You have until June 1 to enter.
3. Five finalists will be selected based on: originality of the idea, accuracy and research, writing style and general applicability of the topic.
4. The winning entries will be posted on the contest site where friends, family and fans can vote between June 8 to June 15. The winner will be announced June 22.
5. The winner’s blog will launch in the first week of July.
Are any bloggers, or GMBMFB readers going to enter?
Have questions about what it’s like to blog for Moneyville? Feel free to leave a comment. Or for specific contest-related questions, you can contact Adam Mayers directly at editor@moneyville.ca.

Oh awesome!
I think I’ll enter. I just need to brainstorm what to write about!
Is it for everyone or only for Canadians? I am from the U.S.
Unfortunately, it's just for Canadians. :(
I'm planning on entering. I've got a couple ideas for submission that I've been mulling over. Good luck to everyone who enters!
My recent post Happy Mother’s Day oh yeah- and May’s budget
I emailed the editor of that site but the submission form doesn't let you enter HTML (so no headings, images, bulleted lists, or hyperlinks).
No response back yet, is their another email address I should try?
