Please note that these costs are only my portion of the expenses. We obviously spend more than around $40/week on groceries for the two of us … but because we split groceries a certain way, the only thing that affects my budget is my share of it.
Anyway, this was a good week. BF and I have been trying really hard to cut down on our food expenses – both groceries and dining out. We could have done without going to that Chinese restaurant, but it was a nice treat because BF just found out that he officially passed his program! Now he has to apply for licensing and submit fees and paperwork to be completely certified. He won’t be able to work until March at the earliest because that’s when the next certification exam is. Kind of annoying, but we’ve come this far, what’s 2 extra months?
I’m also kind of pissed about my lighting system for my fish tank. It has been working sporadically over the past few weeks, so I finally broke down and bought a new system and bulbs. It’s obnoxious to have to spend money on something like that, but my little fish are worth it. :)

I just have 2 fancy goldfish (Harold and Blue). :) Want to have tropical fish, but that costs more and I don't have the time to maintain them. When I was growing up, we used to have a huge tank of freshwater tropical fish and I loved it.
Those saltwater fish are crazy expensive but so pretty.
Aww.. :) Goldfish. My parents have a betta.
Aww how cute with the names. Harold and Blue. Wish I had the time for animals, would loooooveee a dog. Just does not make sense for me now, living in the condo. Plus I sometimes travel a lot for work, so would need to make arrangements. Either way, its not just owning a dog, its a lifestyle choice. Not sure if I am prepared to make that choice, been pondering over the past year.
