It was another expensive week, but luckily I was able to make some extra money to help offset the cost of the Christmas presents I bought. Also it really helped that I was able to offset the cost of presents with Amazon gift certificates. :) I think I’m done Christmas shopping, except for my annual chocolate order from my friend’s chocolate factory on Salt Spring Island. She’s shipping them over to me, and I expect to have them sometime next week.

I also finally got reimbursed for my business trip to Seattle (where I got a speeding ticket at the border), so I paid my $196 ticket. Since I was still within the 30 day window, I got $25 off. Because of my company’s generous mileage reimbursement, I didn’t actually have to pay for the ticket out-of-pocket. But still. Ouch.

Finally, this week I ended up buying a pair of running shoes. I bought a pair of Saucony runners from REI over a year ago. It was the first time I didn’t buy my Asics Kayano runners since high school, and I immediately regretted it. I’ve tried to work through it, but every time I use them, my feet just ache. That’s the trouble with problem feet! So it’s back to my (expensive) Asics – the only brand that I’ve ever found to work. They are regularly $199 + HST, but I saw them on sale at the mall so I snagged them at a great price. I’m sure I paid a bit more than I would have if I had ordered them online (not by much though) … but now that I’m doing fitness classes a few times a week, I needed to have them ASAP. My feet seriously can not take another cardio class (I have one tonight) with my old runners.

I used to wear Saucony's too, and then discovered Kayano's and loved them. This past summer, I bought a pair of Saucony's that were on sale and I've regretted it ever since. My feet took a long time to recover from the blisters and aches. I'm now wearing Kayano's again and yes, they're a bit pricey but worth it!

I bought my very first pair of Asics in Jan 09 and haven’t looked back! They are awesome and while I remember paying $150+tax (US) for them, they have been completely worth it and are still going strong 2 years later with consistent 3x a week or more use! They are awesome for cardio kickboxing, weightlifting, bootcamp etc. I’m a total convert! :)

  5. What’s wrong with your feet? Do you have problem arches? I guess I’ve never tried a nice running shoe so I’ve never really noticed how good my feet will feel in them. I do have flat feet though :(

I am curious, what kind of freelance work do you do? I am blogging but so far not making anything from it. Looking for more income sources.

When I say 'freelance,' I can mean anything from blogging income (from this blog in form of advertising, sponsored posts, Adsense, etc), graphic design work, web design, press releases, multi media services, photography, or some sort of combination of any sort of communication & graphic design work. Most of my true freelance work comes from graphic design and updating websites of current clients.

Only recently have I started to make any money off this blog, and I've had it for almost 4 years. It takes a while to build to where you can make money, and it is hard work but you will eventually get there as long as you do it for the love of blogging and not for the intention of making money.
