Well we are approaching Christmas Party season. BF has one at the end of November for his volunteer organization, and my company party is at the beginning of December. His party is free, and mine is subsidized, so it will cost $50 for the both of us to attend ($25 each). Kind of on the steep side, but we’ll be going since this is my first Christmas party with the company and it will probably be fun just to see how everyone is outside of an office setting.
I don’t really have anything dressy to wear, so I’ll have to make do with what I have. Would love to have a new dressy top to wear, but I’m sure I can throw something together.
Speaking of Christmas, my sister and I have decided to try and buy a Groupon for a facial and massage (or something along those lines) as our Christmas gift to each other. It will be fun to do together, and cost much less than what we usually spend on each other.
My office shuts down between Christmas and New Years, so BF and I are planning to do a week-long hike. We’re not sure where yet, but it will probably be on the island. Talk was of some mountains mid-island or up north to Cape Scott. It will probably be cold and rainy and miserable with huge packs full of winter gear, but also a lot of fun so I’m excited. It’s not often we have a week off together to have an outdoorsy adventure. :)
Do you have any big plans over the holidays?

I have to admit that I have been a lurker for some time now.__I am a teacher so our Christmas parties tend to be low key (don't read low key as non fun or quiet). I find even in the world of education Christmas parties are a great time to build relationships. With a staff of about 50 teachers (with different schedules) it is hard to get to know everyone. __My wife and I just went to a work party last weekend. She is actually looking for a teaching job. Just by showing up she made some great contacts that we hope will help in the job search in the future. We went to have fun (which is the key) and left with greater job prospects.

Ooh! A week long hike over Christmas sounds great. But camping!! It is snowing here already in the UK. Brrr! I think I would prefer a nice cottage with a log fire! Hope you have a great time though.
best wishes, Julie
Haha yep it was snowing over here too. BF loves loves loves camping in the wintertime. I personally prefer going during the summer months. We want to camp right at the ocean, so it will be a chilly week! And if the weather isn't that great, we'll head into the mountains (although that sounds colder to me!!!)
