Yesterday I went to my first yoga class in about 5 years (although I have been doing the Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown DVD sporadically for the past year). I had a good time hanging out with my friend, and we’ve decided to do fitness classes every Monday evening going forward. We are going to alternate between yoga and an aerobics class. Maybe even throw in the gym every so often as well.
Because this is at a rec centre, the prices are reasonable. I bought a 10-class drop-in package for $46. Cheaper than the boot camp I was going to a few months ago!
So that means between field hockey and fitness Mondays, I am scheduled to work out 3x/week (4x/week if they need me to play for another team within the club). And now with ski season started, I could be working out almost every day for the next few months. Good. My body needs it.

If you thought last week was expensive, then this week seems just as bad. Of course the totals you see above do not reflect the $587.85 I spent on my Toronto/Buffalo/NYC flights. I took the money out of my Savings Fund, so it didn’t actually affect my monthly budget. Whereas last week’s flights to Calgary are coming out of my monthly budget. I can’t believe I’ve spent $1,000 on flights in the past 2 weeks!
I also had to replenish my facial products. I made the decision earlier this year to stick with Skyn Iceland – an expensive all-natural face care line that I found through Sephora. Why? Because I’ve spent the last 10-12 years struggling to find a good face regiment that works with my dry, extremely sensitive skin. I bought everything – day cream, night cream, eye cream and face wash – back in February, and I will run out by the end of the year. So instead of ordering through Sephora, I decided to order right from Skyn. Especially because they were having 20% off for Black Friday, plus they had a gift set that really helped out. Back in February I paid $200 US + tax for all 4 items. And this time I paid $132.95 US total. So it’s a significant savings. I’m hoping that I can make it until Black Friday 2011 to order again. And I think I can. Just have to remember that a little goes a long way with these products.
So my original travel budget for my Toronto/NYC trip was $720 with an additional $80 for the car rental & gas.
Well, last night I booked my flight from Vancouver-Toronto, Buffalo-NYC, New Jersey-Vancouver for $587.85!!! That’s all taxes and fees in, and yes that is also in Canadian dollars. I am very pleased with that price. Especially considering they are all direct flights. Even BF was shocked that I got such a great deal.
My friend booked the rental car for $106, so I am probably looking at $70 for my share of the rental ($53 for rental + gas).
Which means my $800 travel budget now sits at $657.85, or $142.15 less than I had budgeted. :)
