Fitness Mondays

Yesterday I went to my first yoga class in about 5 years (although I have been doing the Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown DVD sporadically for the past year). I had a good time hanging out with my friend, and we’ve decided to do fitness classes every Monday evening going forward. We are going to alternate between yoga and an aerobics class. Maybe even throw in the gym every so often as well. Because this is at a rec centre, the prices are reasonable. I bought a 10-class drop-in package for $46. Cheaper than the boot camp I was going to … Continue reading

Flights booked!

So my original travel budget for my Toronto/NYC trip was $720 with an additional $80 for the car rental & gas. Well, last night I booked my flight from Vancouver-Toronto, Buffalo-NYC, New Jersey-Vancouver for $587.85!!! That’s all taxes and fees in, and yes that is also in Canadian dollars. I am very pleased with that price. Especially considering they are all direct flights. Even BF was shocked that I got such a great deal. My friend booked the rental car for $106, so I am probably looking at $70 for my share of the rental ($53 for rental + gas). … Continue reading

Figuring out T.O./NYC accommodation

So I was browsing VRBO for accommodation in NYC, and we found one minutes from Times Square for only $185/night! It sleeps 4-5 people (one queen, 2 doubles & a couch). The location is perfect, the apartment has gotten good reviews, and it’s the right price. We are very close to booking it, and if we do, I will be well under my $600 accommodation budget at $462.50. :) It will be less if more people decide to come on the trip. As for Toronto, that’s proving to be a bit harder. Most of the apartments are in the suburbs and I … Continue reading

Combining travel = saving $$$

I have a trip to Toronto in the spring and a separate trip to New York City in the fall planned for this year, but for some reason I never thought to combine the two trips to save on the cost of my flights. Now that I think about it, it seems like the most logical thing to do. So I’ve been talking with my friend about doing Toronto and NYC in May. The cost of a Vancouver-Toronto/Buffalo-NYC/NYC-Vancouver flight arrangement would be around $720 after taxes/fees. Which is a killer deal. We would rent a car from Toronto and drive to … Continue reading
