Here is your chance to win ONE OF FOUR copies of Quicken 2011!
I think the biggest drawback of Quicken is the price – so most personal finance bloggers out there have opted for free methods such as spreadsheets, or some sort of online tracker like mint.com. But now with this contest, you can try out this incredibly in depth software for yourself!
Quicken is by far, my favourite personal finance software – and in my opinion, is completely worth the money. It has kept my money organized off and on for the past 4 years, and recently I was lucky enough to be able to reinstall it onto my computer. Most of you know how much I love Quicken; it’s one of the only pieces of software that I fully recommend to anyone who asks.
There are many new and enhanced features in Quicken 2011, which means less work for you and greater flexibility. The first thing I noticed about the new Quicken is that the interface is much more user-friendly. The pie charts and graphs are pleasant to look at, and the organization and breakdown of everything makes it a lot easier to understand. So if you like the look of mint.com, you’ll like this new Quicken.
Quicken 2011 focuses on ease-of-use, speed and accuracy, allowing users to:
- See all accounts in one place: A 360-degree financial view brings together all accounts, including bank, credit card, investment and retirement, to give users clear insight into where they stand.
- Customize screen views: A modern, customer-friendly design and iTunes-like transaction registers make sorting and searching fast.
- Evaluate spending habits: An improved, automated engine categorizes transactions with accuracy exceeding 90 percent.
- Clearly count transfers: Credit card payments are automatically matched to transfers from checking or savings, so they’re not double-counted.
- Set up in just minutes: A streamlined setup process adds bank, credit card and investment accounts in just three steps. The simple automatic data import from previous versions of Quicken cuts out steps and saves users time.
- Create simple budgets: Based on an individual’s historical spending, personalized budgets make it easier to stick to and track against budgets.
- Never miss a bill: Personalized bill, expense alerts and a graph to project cash flow help users avoid late fees and penalties.
- Plan for life’s goals: Whether helping users get out of debt, work toward retirement, or create a customized plan, Quicken helps create a clear, actionable plan.
- Know how investments are performing: Stock quotes are now automatically refreshed every 15 minutes.
- Support for more banks: Automatically downloads transactions and account balances from nearly every bank and credit union in the U.S. – 12,000, up from 5,000.
So up for grabs are:
- Two (2) copies of Quicken Premier (MSRP $89.99) – For investors and those who manage investments and want to plan ahead for tax time.
- Two (2) copies of Quicken Home & Business (MSRP $99.99) – For people who want to track tax-deductible business expenses, and see profit and loss at a glance (this is the one I use)

I tried Quicken quite a while ago (I'm not going to admit how many years) and found it awkward to use, but from your rave reviews it sounds like it's come a long way. Sign me up for the contest!

Being a very recent university graduate and wanting to start saving to put a down on a house and other "settling down" expenses — having a way other than excel to organize my finances would be fantastic!!
Thanks so much for this,

I hope this comment is a winner. I track everything in Excel, but it would be very nice to upgrade.

I've been using Excel to track my expenses for about 2 years now — especially useful for the wedding and getting our own place.
I've tried to convince my wife to give tracking her spending a try and see where her money is going, but she says its too complicated. I think that's her excuse.
Quicken 2011 definitely looks like a great way for me to get her started — looks very organized, simple, and visual.

I would love to win! I need Quicken to help my stupid self – first time living alone, and it's getting harder to get used to spending on only one income!

One of my goals is to better organize my finances and track my profits. Tax time was such a hassle last year because of my disorganization. It took me at least a month to compile everything I needed to even file. Quicken would be a life-saver!
