Adjusting Hawaii Budget

So the bride-to-be informed me that she will be paying for my hair appointment and mani/pedi appointment the day of her wedding in Hawaii. Sweet! That will save me about $150! Also speaking of Hawaii, those of you who follow me on Twitter probably already know this, but my boss said that the company is going to treat BF and I to a fancy dinner while we are in Hawaii as a thank-you for all of my hard work over the summer. She said to just pay for the dinner and bring in the invoice to be reimbursed the amount. … Continue reading

Bachelorette Party break-down

Well I had budgeted $200 for my friend’s bachelorette party, and here’s what I ended up spending: $14 ferry ride $130 dinner & drinks – We went to Bard & Banker, which isn’t cheap but offers great atmosphere and the bride really likes the place. There were a total of 8 people at the dinner. I ended up paying for all of her drinks and her dinner, and nobody else even offered to pitch in. Let me first say that I have absolutely no problem paying for her dinner/drinks, but most of the people at the dinner weren’t even going … Continue reading

A whirlwind of spending

Well this weekend I’m going back to my hometown for my friend’s bachelorette party. I feel bad because there aren’t that many people going, and at the end of the night it could end up just being me that’s left! It’s too bad, but it was definitely planned last minute. On Sunday I’m heading back to Vancouver and BF and I are going to Bodyworlds with some of his friends. The admission was kind of expensive ($26 for adults, $22 for students), and it prompted me to have a chat about money with BF. Going forward, we’re both going to … Continue reading

Oh, Toronto

Ugh. I really really want to go to Toronto to visit my friends, but I really don’t think I can afford it. Not even after I’ve postponed the trip by 5 months (I was supposed to go in July for my friend’s wedding that ended up getting canceled). I’ve found flights around $530-550 roundtrip right now, which is decent. But after thinking about hotels and spending money, I’m still going to be over $1,000. And with Hawaii fast approaching, as well as Christmas just around the corner, I feel like I’d be stretching myself too thin financially. Not to mention … Continue reading
