Adjusting Hawaii Budget

So the bride-to-be informed me that she will be paying for my hair appointment and mani/pedi appointment the day of her wedding in Hawaii. Sweet! That will save me about $150!

Also speaking of Hawaii, those of you who follow me on Twitter probably already know this, but my boss said that the company is going to treat BF and I to a fancy dinner while we are in Hawaii as a thank-you for all of my hard work over the summer. She said to just pay for the dinner and bring in the invoice to be reimbursed the amount. She also said to make sure to spend around $200 (!!!). BF and I are so thankful and surprised at their generosity, and I have already made a reservation at a nice restaurant close to the condo that we’re staying at.

Because of the generosity of the bride and my boss, I am lowering my Hawaii spending money budget from $600 to $400. :)

You know, you might not get back to Hawaii in quite a long time if ever. You had already budgeted for the extra amount so look around while you're there and maybe there's something you want to do/see that you wouldn't have considered before. Money spent on "experiences" in my opinion is never wasted. I never regret the things I didn't buy but I have lots of regrets about the things I didn't do because I thought I should save the dough for something else.

Good points. I certainly don't want to miss out on something that I would really want to do, but I also think that in the situation I'm in financially, it really does make more sense to save money wherever I can. We're going to Hawaii, staying in a nice beachfront condo, going to 3 nice restaurants (one is the wedding dinner), and have a car to take us wherever we want in Maui. I truly think there are enough free activities to keep us fully entertained during our trip there. I'd love to go zip lining or ocean kayaking or go to the aquarium, but I'd also like to go hiking and check out the different beaches for free, just as much as the things that cost money.

Of course, that's not to say if something completely unique and cool comes along, we won't consider it. But I am definitely financially aware these days.
