A new fitness routine

Last night was my first bootcamp class, and I was pleasantly surprised at how hard I was pushed. I was probably the most fit person in the class, but I was still pushed hard enough to feel quite sore this morning. I’d LOVE to add another bootcamp class to my weekly routine, but can’t really afford it at this point. And I’m really looking forward to a nice, easy 30-45 min. run tonight to work out a bit of the stiffness in my body.

So my weekly workout schedule looks something like this right now:

Monday: 1 hour bootcamp class
Tuesday: 30-45 min. run OR light gym workout OR fitness DVD
Wednesday: 2 hour field hockey practice
Thursday: 20-30 min. easy run
Friday: Rest Day
Saturday: Field hockey game
Sunday: Rest Day

I completely failed at my attempt to train and sign up for a 10km race this fall. My next challenge is to run a 10km race in the spring in around 50 min. Which means I’m going to have to eventually stretch out that Thursday run into a long one. But will have to build up my stamina. Wednesday field hockey practices don’t seem to be too taxing on me, so I feel like that will be okay. If it ends up being too much, then I’ll have to figure something out. I’d like to continue bootcamp classes after this set is over. It’s nice to interact with other people in that kind of environment, and it forces me to get a hard workout in.

I would think that on the weekends that I don’t have a field hockey game, BF and I would probably try and go hiking. And speaking of hiking, we are in the midst of planning our October long weekend hike. I have my eyes set on a certain mountain that has foiled us the last two times we attempted to summit (Joffre), but we might want to set our sights on something different. It all depends on where the snowfall is right now! Yes, it is already snowing in the mountains near Whistler!

I remember after doing the first couple of days of Jillian Michels 30 Day shred that it felt as if someone had lowered the toilet seat, my butt hurt like hell.
