So I’ve switched all of my expense tracking over to Quicken Home & Business. I really liked my Excel spreadsheet that I was working with, but Quicken is SO much easier to split up my business expenses and help me prepare come tax time. Plus, I already had the software from before so I didn’t have to spend any money.
And because of the switch, that means I have to figure out how to show my monthly budget reports here. Quicken has some really cool charts and stuff, but I calculate my expenses differently through Quicken than I did through my Excel spreadsheet, so the budget isn’t going to be accurate for the purposes of this blog. I think I’ll be able to figure it out tonight, and will have my August recap and September goals up for tomorrow. :)

I'm always an Excel guy. I like the control and being able to create / customize my reports and views. I don't like being restricted by the canned views that the out of the box products or websites have. Still, glad to hear you found something that works!

How is the Quicken on the Mac? or do you need to use Parallels?
I HATE Quicken for Mac. I installed VMware Fusion and am running it on Windows 7 instead.

I use Quicken since Jan 1, 2007
still the same file, it's slowish as I run it off USB drive, but I love to be able to track each cent spent since 2007 and also do budgeting.
good luck, once you get the hang of it (especially redoing the whole categories to group stuff together), and once you ge tthrough the first year, then you can really start toa ppreciate it. Once you have one full year, you can easily see your average spending, etc.

Can I use Quicken for the small bussiness I wish to start? I would be using quicken essentials for mac.
You’ll want to use Quicken Home & Business, which I don’t believe is available for Mac. I use VM Ware Fusion in order to log into Windows on my Mac. That way I can run Home & Business, which I still think is the best personal finance software on the market.
