Weekend Budget

So a friend and I are doing a high ropes course on Sunday. It should be interesting, and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it. It’s basically an elevated obstacle course set in the forest, which includes zip lines, bridges, scramble nets and swinging logs. I am personally kind of afraid of heights, so this should be good for me. The cost is $40 for 2.5 hours, and the weekend is looking kind of spendy already. But I haven’t been home in over 2 months. Which really isn’t a great excuse… Projected Spending: Friday $15 ferry Saturday $45 hair … Continue reading

Shopping for orthotics

When we were at the PNE last weekend, we strolled through the market place and I saw a business selling custom made orthotics. I chatted with the owner for a while, and told him that I was looking for a good pair of orthotics to replace my 10+ yr. old custom made pair. He showed me the kind that they make, and they are far superior to any ones I’ve ever seen. They’re flexible and look comfortable (leather foot bed!). And they make their orthotics through digitization, not through conventional casting. I actually had a pair done for me a … Continue reading

I feel stuck in a financial rut. I’m not going forward, but I’m not sliding backward either. This whole SINKS living situation (single income no kids) thing has really hindered my ability to save any money outside of my $600/month to RRSP and TFSA ($300 on auto-debit every pay day). Even with the extra side income from my design business or this blog, I’m still not really getting anywhere fast. And I mean, I knew that it would happen. When you drop down to one income, that’s just how it works. But I’ve never been in this position before; where … Continue reading

Sunday Hike

Yesterday BF and I went out on an 18km roundtrip hike to Garibaldi Lake. A few years ago, it was one of the first hikes I ever did with BF (well kinda, we went to Taylor Meadows, then onto Blask Tusk). Now that I’m a stronger hiker, I found the hike to be a lot easier than I remember. Of course, I also didn’t have a 30-40 lb. pack strapped to me, so that probably had a lot to do with it. :) Anyway it took us about 4.5 hours to get there and back. We got treated to a mix … Continue reading
