Yesterday I signed up for my first-ever boot camp course. For 6 sessions (every Monday), I’m paying $51. I’ve always wanted to try boot camp, but the cost always stopped me. What was my motivation to actually sign up this time? Partially because a friend also signed up with me, and also because with field hockey starting in September I want to get in really good shape … but mostly because I’m curious!
I think after this boot camp course, I would like to try kick boxing. The rec centre doesn’t offer it, and the kick boxing companies only offer memberships. So I might have to try a rec centre a little farther out.
Anyway, the class doesn’t officially start until mid-September.
Who else has done boot camp before? Thoughts?

Wow I've always wanted to try a boot camp before, but they are sooo expensive. Also I am in a 1 year contract with my gym and so I can't just stop for sometime. Do write about how it goes once you begin.

I've done boot camp classes at the gym but never a scheduled class. I think the price you're paying is great in comparison to the ones offered in CA!

I did one (not through the gym) last fall, 3 times a week for a month or two. It was mostly because I was so insanely busy that I knew if I didn't get up and go at 6 am, I'd never make time to work out. Luckily my schedule has calmed! It was about $13/class, which i ultimately decided was not worth it now that I have time to motivate myself!
But I thought it was a different kind of work out and definitely worth trying! Have fun!

I have friends that absolutely rave about them. They do a few every year.
Personally, I don't respond well to the boot camp format, so I'll stick to my triathlons.

Good Luck and let me know how it goes. I have always been to afraid to try one. I'm terribly out of shape…

I’ve recently been doing a bootcamp class once a week with 2 friends, 1 of whom is trying to become a personal trainer so the classes are free! Not sure how much I would pay, but your deal is awesome and in SoCal they are probably at least $15-20/class. Also, I take kickboxing classes at my gym 3x per week and LOVE them. I got my gym membership through Costco with a great discount.

Did you get the deal at Social Shopper?
My gfs and I signed up as well!

My wife has rocked the bootcamp a bunch and loves it. She is right now in the middle of her second flight of 12 classes, twice a week! in the fall, she'll likely go for a third.
Hey Jeremy, just curious where she does boot camp? I know a few people in Victoria who might be interested in classes.
this chick does it at Beacon Hill Park in the afternoon/ear;ly evening after work: http://coastalfitnesssolutions.com

Hi Krystal, I did boot camp for about 3 sessions a few years ago, I was sooo sore after the first one I could barely roll myself out of bed. One of my flatmates who was doing it with me came out in a rash from the grass so we quickly faded! My commitment to exercise isn't great at the best of times. I think you will really enjoy it. They record how you go at the outset and compare the results at the end. Will be great to hear what you think of it!

I have been going to boot camp for about 11 months now. They are 10 classes over about 5 weeks, usually 2x a week. You should get stronger and build endurance as you go along. Each class it's usually something new we do. The trainer kicks our butt each day but also lets us work at our own pace. I pay $70 for 10 classes. I also recently joined a gym. Also, started taking Spin class and looking into other classes.
