Rear ended!
Yesterday as I was driving home from work, I got rear ended while sitting at a stop light. I wasn’t hurt, but my poor car has a bunch of scratches and a huge hole in the bumper. :( And the guy who hit me didn’t even say sorry! He acted as if I was being a nuisance, asking for his license and insurance. And he was tapping his foot impatiently as I wrote down all of his information and took photos of the front of his car.
I was worried because I have private insurance through CDI and didn’t want it to be a hassle to make a claim. The 2 previous accidents I’ve been in, I’ve only had to deal with ICBC. But CDI was really helpful and I was able to make the claim easily.
Because I have replacement insurance on my car, all of the parts needed to fix my car will be new. And my $500 deductible will be waived since it wasn’t my fault. I forgot to ask about if I’m eligible for a loaner car while mine is getting fixed, so I’m waiting to hear back from my adjuster.
Also, I’m trying to find a place to fix my car. I’d prefer to go with the dealership I bought my car from, or at least another Suzuki dealership. I just have to wait to hear about the loaner car first.

Sorry to hear that! I don't know the difference between Canada and the States, but when I got rear ended, I had a rental for about a month paid by the other guy's insurance company. They did not immediately accept responsibility (they had to speak with their customer first), but as soon as they did, they paid the whole rental bill.
Bottom line, you should get a rental.

Yeah I did get that … but I'm pretty sure I got it fixed when I went in for my 10,000km service earlier in the summer. If not, then I'm due for my 15,000km service pretty much right now. Have you gone for the fix yet?

That's too bad! But if the other guy rear ended you, shouldn't his insurance have to pay for your repairs and loaner car? I am pretty sure you are due a rental car for the time your car is in the shop!

Yeah his insurance will pay for the repairs and the place I am taking the car to get repaired has loaner vehicles. I won't have to pay for anything out of pocket.

Glad you weren't hurt. It's such a hassle though-bummer! Glad you got the loaner worked out-I've gotten loaners in the past in such instances, but I'm in Ontario, so it may be different out there.

He could just act as impatient as he liked, the fact is that he was legally 100% at fault and you needed to document it. Maybe if he wasn't so impatient he wouldn't have rear ended you. I'm glad you weren't hurt!

Yeah, glad you weren't hurt! =( Are you a road star? I heard that CDI or private insurance companies are harsher to young drivers with less than 10 years experience than ICBC (this is what the insurance lady told me), but sounds like they're helping you out well.
No I only have 7 years of driving experience. CDI has been really helpful so far. Their rates are much cheaper than ICBC and so far the claims process has been smooth. BF gets all of his insurance through ICBC but I think he is a road star. It will be interesting to see the quotes I get from both companies when I renew this fall.
