This weekend is our annual girls camping trip. There are only 4 of us going, so it should be a nice, quiet time. Unless there are other rowdies camping there too. I don’t even really know where we’re going, just that it’s east of my house by about 1.5 hours?
Budget:
$10 camping fee
$25 food (2x breakfast, 2x lunch, 2x dinner + snacks)
$15 fire wood
$30 booze
$20 gas
It’s more than I’d usually pay for a weekend of camping with BF (we never have fires or bring booze), but a camping trip with the girls only happens once a year – and it’s much cheaper than going on a trip anywhere else. Plus, the weather is supposed to be really nice – which I’m excited about, because the last 2 years we’ve gone, it’s been pouring rain!

I think $100 is totally reasonable for a camping trip!
I don't go camping unless the weather is good. We mostly never have a fire too. But I think $100 is reasonable. Is the camping fee $40? I think that's pretty steep though

Yeah, camping is like $20/day. Which IMO is ridiculous, but it seems to be the going rate around here for provincial parks. BF and I almost never pay for camping, because we hike into the mountains.

Well sorry to be the bearer of bad news but BC has banned campfires as of Friday – good news you will save the money you would have spent on firewood. At least the weather is great!
Yeah I found out almost immediately after I wrote this post. :( Sucks, but you're right; at least it does save me some money on firewood and food (s'mores, etc). hahaha

I am curious is it legit to bring alcohol and drink it on the camp site?
I have a sneaking suspicion that I've heard something about a BC "ban" (who knows what kind of enforcement exists) on alcohol in provincial park campgrounds this year.
Hmm. I'll have to research into that. But either way, it's not a huge huge deal. BF and I never drink when we go camping, and I only go once a year with the girls.

I think it's legal to do it. To the best of my knowledge, when you pay to go camping, that campsite is legally your “residence” for the time you're there. And you're legally allowed to drink in your place of residence. It IS legal, however, to drink outside of your “residence” … so you can't drink on the beach or anywhere that is outside of the area that you paid for. Like a hotel room – you can drink inside your hotel room, but not in the hallways or out on the street or in the parking lot.
