I’ve read the first 2 of 3 Stieg Larsson books (just have The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest left to read). I really want to try to save the last one for Mexico, but it’s really difficult because I want to know what happens!
Getting desperate for a computer upgrade. My computer barely runs CS3, and I need to upgrade to CS5 ASAP. Although I went with BF to Future Shop a few weeks ago and I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the new 27″ iMac. I would love that huge screen (3″ bigger than my current iMac), but I think in the end, portability is more important for me. Timeline for upgrade is probably going to be closer to the end of the summer. I kind of drained my cash flow to pay for the Hawaii trip.
Yesterday BF and I went to the pet store to price out how much it would cost to get set up with a fish tank. I really want to get a cat, but BF is allergic. :( Cry. So fish it is! With the tank, starter kit, fish + snails, and all related accessories, we’re looking at around $150. Less, depending on how many decorative accessories we want to buy. My sister has had her fish tank for a few years now and said that’s how much she spent, but that we could probably save a bit more money if do a bit more shopping around. So that we will do!
BF spent all Saturday counting and rolling coins from his HUGE coin jar (one of those big water jugs). He was collecting loose change for 5-6 years, and in the end he came up with $375+! Pretty impressive considering there were only 4 loonies and no toonies.
Have been resisting the urge to start packing for Mexico. Must calm down. There are still 5 days left until we leave!!!
I really want to read the Stieg Larson books, I added mine to my wait list at my library and I'm #500 something! I may splurge and just buy it. The amount of change he had is impressive!!
Yes I tried to borrow them from the library too, and the wait time was just ridiculous. I was 300+ on the list for all 3 books. But I found the books in Target for like $6 each the last time I was in the states, so I splurged and bought them. I also saw them on eBay for about $8 each + free shipping!

Aquariums are one of the things you find most often at a yard sale. I would suggest checking a few out or seeing if anyone is selling on Craigslist or at Value Village. You will save a lot getting the tank used.
I thought about that, but the tank itself only cost $17 from the store, so it's not very expensive. It's all the other stuff – filter, etc. that costs. Plus I'd be scared to buy a used tank because even if you test it out and fill it with water before you buy it, there might be a hairline leak somewhere that wouldn't be detected until maybe an hour has past by.
I will definitely look at used stores for all the fake plants and accessories, etc. Value Village must have a crap load of that stuff.

Hey I just had to tweak your comment a bit because I haven't announced on my blog yet about my potential job. Just waiting to finalize all the details. :)
Don't get me wrong, $1000/month is fantastic for extra income. I just meant that to break it down into per-task money, it would be about $83 per task at maximum, and since it's a flat rate, the more I work, the less I earn. Not that I'm complaining because it's such a great opportunity.
I save about 30-40% of my regular income right now. This extra money will definitely help me save much more than that each month.
Once everything is finalized, I will do a post about the extra money coming in, and what I plan on doing with it. Also, probably some sort of new post about my entire money situation at the moment, since BF is in school and not working.

Fish are a lot cheaper then cats. You're already saving money there! And you don't need to worry about vet bills. Good job with the change. I got one of those automatic change counters for Christmas. I've been throwing in all change when I get it (rarely since I usually use plastic) but I'm already up to $63ish and it's only about 1/5th full.
Speaking as a pet lover who at one time had 2 dogs and 3 cats and all the gigantic Vet,s bills that went along with keeping them healthy, I think fish are a great choice.
My recent post A successful payday
Yeah, I didn't even consider vet bills as a cost when I thought about owning a cat. I guess because I've always known that BF is allergic, so I never thought seriously about it. My family had a huge fish tank when I was growing up, so I'm excited to have one of my very own. :)
