Here is my spending recap for May 17-23, 2010

Monday 17th
$50.64 Superstore

Tuesday 18th
$78.48 Shaw Cable bill

Wednesday 19th
No spend day!

Thursday 20th
$6.29 Subway (I forgot my lunch at home)

Friday 21st
$40.21 gas
$73.20 ferry
$4.15 Starbucks
-$50 mom (to offset ferry cost, since we went to IKEA and brought a bed over for her)
$37.09 MEC (batteries for my headlamp, 2x dehydrated food pouches & bandana)
$63.81 Thrifty Food’s (groceries for hike)
-$40 BF (for his half of the groceries & ferry)
$14.83 sushi dinner w/sister

Saturday 22nd
No spend day – hiking!

Sunday 23rd
No spend day - hiking!

TOTAL: $278.70

Ouch! Most of it was planned spending. The groceries for hiking were a little expensive (I was anticipating closer to $25/person and it ended up being more like $40/person). I also don’t normally pay for the cable bill, but with BF in school I need to pitch in and help.

I’m angry that I forgot my lunch on Thursday, and I didn’t really need that Starbucks drink, but it was pretty delicious. Other than that, all spending was normal.

Yeah, it's something new I just started doing. I'm hoping it'll help keep me more accountable for my spending. I've been doing monthly recaps, but find I need to tighten my belt and review my spending more frequently. Too many little purchases and that needs to stop.

That is funny, we're opposites! I only post my weekend recaps because I rarely/never spend during the week!

I don't have as many no spend days a week as you, but when I do, they feel glorious.

Tracking money on a weekly basis makes a lot of sense. I tend to forget about all the little purchases when I do it on a monthly or even bi-weekly basis! My long weekend cost a little less than yours but was way more active and healthy! Makes me think I should try and convince my friends to plan something with a hike involved!

I really dont, spend during the week while at work as I always take my lunch with me. However if I see petrol at a good price I will fill my tank. But I more than make up for my no spending days at the weekend.

Call up Shaw, they've got deals on so that you could be paying less than that and you just have to ask for them. Also if your boyfriend is still in school in the fall they offer a student deal where you prepay in August or September and get ten months of service at a discounted rate. You just have to prove that he's a student to get it.

Good call! I’ll get ahold of them soon. Unfortunately BF’s programs aren’t accepted as ‘post secondary’ education. He’s not even eligible for student loans. But it definitely doesn’t hurt to ask!

I don't think it has to be an accredited program, but as long as he can prove enrollment info or some kind of student ID it should work. I don't remember exactly how much the student deal was, but I seem to remember the internet was about $200 for ten months and they only offer it in the late summer/early fall. Until then I know that they have good deals depending how many services you have with them, so you should be able to save a few bucks. They called me in February and knocked my cable and internet bill in half!

Give them a call anyway, they have some good deals on now. A rep called me up in February and cut my cable/internet bill by about 50% and friends who called them after that were able to get the same deals.
