Well I am happy to report that I have been approved for EI. I am still living off of severance pay up until April 3rd. Then I have a 2-week waiting period where no benefits will be paid out. Then starting the week of April 18th, I will be eligible to start earning benefits (I think that’s how it works – will be calling tomorrow to confirm). Meaning, I will be okay. Insert huge sigh of relief now. :) I might have to dip into my EF for a couple of weeks, depending on how prompt the payments are. As … Continue reading
This afternoon I’m going to try out the local rec centre gym near my house. A drop-in fee is $5.10, and a 1-month pass is only $34.20 (it’s $34.20 for a 10-pass card as well). Which is pretty cheap. I think I’m going to drop-in a few times to see if I like it. And if I do, then I’d like to start going 2x/week – which means the 10-pass card would work perfect for me. Just to shake up the workout routine a bit and to get me out of the house for a while. I know I shouldn’t … Continue reading
Even though I’m unemployed, Mondays still feel like Mondays. Somehow, that just doesn’t seem fair. :) The weekend was nice though. On Friday I was asked to be interviewed for a story that would be aired on CBC. It was in response to a recent report from David Dodge and the C.D. Howe Institute saying that Canadians aren’t saving enough for retirement. I would have LOVED to do the interview, but unfortunately it would have totally blown my ‘anonymous’ cover. :( Which kind of makes me feel like … why shouldn’t I just start blogging as the real me? It’s … Continue reading
What a gorgeous Saturday! BF is currently in the kitchen making me pancakes. :) Afterwards, I think we’ll wash our cars, then go for a nice walk outside. Hopefully > 10km. We did a massive cleanup yesterday, so our place is looking better. I still really want to paint the walls a nice bright colour, because currently it’s just plain drywall. Don’t ask. I don’t know how to finish off the walls, so painting will just have to wait. It’s hard to believe we’ll be living here for another 3 years or so. I always assumed it was going to … Continue reading
The interview went well. I was more nervous for this one, than the one I had last week. There is going to be 2 or 3 more rounds of interviews, and it seems like there is a lot of competition for this job. That being said, I really do think it’s a great job. My only concern is that I don’t have the background in that industry. The recruiter will be contacting my references and forward my resume to the company that is hiring, so we’ll see how it goes. The job market is super competitive right now, so all … Continue reading
