monthly goals
Well, March wasn’t as tragic as I thought it would be, what with me losing my job and all. I ended up going over my budget by about $10, which isn’t that terrible, but I had a lot of miscellaneous expenses. I did definitely tame my spending after I lost my job, and I’m looking for April to be a barebones month.

- Workout 6x/week. FAIL! After I lost my job, I just slummed around for a few weeks. Near the end of the month I got back on track, but I couldn’t erase what was already done.
- $150 into Savings Fund. FAIL! I actually ended up almost draining this account for a reason I’d rather not go into right now.
- $100 into Emergency Fund. FAIL! I was only able to deposit $75 before I lost my job… :(
- $550 into Retirement Portfolio (RRSP & TFSA). FAIL! I only deposited $300.
- $50 into Car Fund. FAIL! I didn’t deposit anything.
- $150 into Property Fund. CHECK!
- $50 into Travel Fund. FAIL!
- List at least 3 things on eBay. FAIL! I didn’t list anything, but I did list 14 books on Amazon.ca
- Make an extra $100 this month. CHECK! I’m getting about $125 US from my Google Adsense payment, and I made $25 US through Swagbucks.

How were you able to save $10 on rent?
Well I pay my rent via PayPal, so if I have some $$ in PayPal from selling something, or making money online, I use that towards my rent, and then the difference I transfer from my chequing account. The PayPal money I count as "found $$$" and not part of my regular earned income. I've just never shown it in my budget like that before. So I'm not sure if I'm going to continue, but tried it out for this month to see.
Great goals….we are rolling into a new month — good luck! I need to set some goals myself
Are you considering posting why your savings account has been drained? Just curious, that's all. You've always been so open with everything in the past, I'm just wondering why you are not keen to talk about this issue…
It was only about $300, so at least it's not a big amount. I think I might talk about why I took the money out, but most likely not. At least not in the near future.

I was wondering why there is only one car payment and why your cell phone bill went over that much? You do not have to tell, i'm just curious! :)
Well I called the company that has my car loan, and explained my situation (just lost my job). So because they kind of messed up my paperwork last month when I was trying to move my payment date to the date that I got paid, I made 3 payments instead of 2. So they agreed to only take 1 payment from me this month.
Cell phone was over because that was the last of what I owed from buying my iPhone. I didn't go over on my usage, just the cost of the phone.
