Sephora success!

So I went into Sephora on Saturday and spoke to a very helpful woman. She showed me the different products in the Philosophy line, I tried them out, and then walked around the store. I can tell almost immediately if the cream will work for me, and they felt great! I asked for samples, and she suggested that I should just buy what I was looking for and if it didn’t work for me, I could just return it all for a full refund. I guess the sample sizes aren’t big enough to last very long. Which is what they ALWAYS say because they want to move merchandise. But in this case, I decided to go for it.

Basically what I wanted was $148 US, and I was concerned that it was going to be much, much more in a Canadian store. Which it was, at $225. But they had an $83 starter kit left over from a promotion (cheaper than even the $101 kit) which included everything that I wanted (in full sizes), except the night cream ($62). So in total I paid $162.40 after tax. Which is much cheaper than going down to Washington to buy the same stuff. And I stayed very close to my budget of $150. These products will also last a lot longer than the face creams I was using because the jars are bigger.

I didn’t have this into my February budget, because I was so sure my supply would last until March. But it didn’t, and I’m satisfied that I got the best price for what I wanted.

Oh, and P.S.? The Philosophy creams are amazing. My skin has never felt so soft and hydrated. It’s crazy. I didn’t think my skin could feel this great. The smell of the day cream is a little weird. Smells sort of like putty? I don’t know. It works, and that’s what matters. The smell is barely noticeable, but I think it will take some getting used to. I asked BF what he thought of the smell, and he said that it didn’t smell like anything. He really liked the smell of the face cleanser and night cream though.

What kind of cream did you end up getting?

Did you end up with philosophy's hope in a jar? I have been using it for about 3 yrs and LOVE it. In fact, I love all of their products. I buy a lot of mine from QVC (qvc.com). They offer special kits and super size!

Kimberley & Beth: I ended up getting Philosophy – day cream (hope in a jar), night cream (when hope is not enough), eye cream, face cleanser, and a bonus face serum (full sized) – which I didn't really need, but feels good to use anyway.

I love Philosophy. I use Purity daily, and just got the hubs to start using it. I also love their micro delivery peel. You should try it and feel your skin after that!

I always get samples no matter what they say.

Esp if I am about to drop $200 on creams, I hate returning that stuff, and they give you a hassle if the package has been opened.

That being said, glad that you found a line that works for you!

I am on the Korres and Skyn Iceland line, and I must say, it's pretty fantastic how a good cream and cleanser can make the difference in your skin

I've started using a new face regimen for the last month or two. If I wear make-up that day, I wash my face with a homemade cleanser of 1 part jojoba or extra virgin olive oil with 1 part corn starch. You can wash with or without a facecloth and dry with a towel. The towel soaks up all of the excess oil. I don't wash my face in the morning (I shower in the morning and just rub my hands on my face) and I don't wash it before bed if I didn't wear make-up that day.

Before I put on make-up, I use jojoba oil (or olive oil) as a moisturizer and then apply the Sephora Bare Escentuals foundation primer. Then I apply the bare minerals make-up. I'm trying to stay away from as many chemicals as I can!

My face isn't greasy oily, and it's not as dry anymore. The jojoba oil absorbs nicely into the skin.
