If you’re from my hometown, chances are you know who Jeremy Baker is. And if you don’t, I’ll tell you that he’s the afternoon show host for The Zone 91.3FM. He’s a great on-air personality and I’ve had the pleasure of working with him sometimes when I worked back in my hometown. Anyway I know he’s been reading my blog lately and I found it VERY cool that he’s been inspired by my lunch challenge, and is now taking on The Sandwich Project in an effort to save money. (Take a look at the photo – Jeremy’s wife baked him a sandwich birthday cake because he loves sandwiches so much – cute!)
It’s super hard to break the habit of buying your lunch every day. But by packing your lunch, you not only save money, but chances are you’ll eat healthier too. Even on days that I am too lazy to make a sandwich or something else for my lunch, I’ll bring a can of soup or hummus and pita. BF has been trying hard to do the same, but it’s a bit more of a struggle for him because he works long hours.
Just wanted to let you know that after my 12 weeks straight of not buying my lunch, I’ve returned to buying my lunch once every 2 weeks – on pay day. Except for this week. I’ll be going out for lunch on Thursday because my friend is in town volunteering for the Olympics. And since it is VERY rare that any of my friends are over here, I’ll break my little rule for her. :) The lunch will probably cost me $12-13.
Saving on the little things definitely frees up more money in my budget to spend on costlier items, like my ski pass, or climbing gym membership … or my field hockey fees in the fall. Eek. That will be at least $250. Plus the cost of a uniform. I don’t want to think about that right now.

I totally agree on that, packing your lunch is totally healthier than buying lunch. It's not good for the health to buy lunch especially at fastfoods. No offense, but the preservatives used on foods at fastfoods are not that healthy. Would you agree on that?
woo, Sandwich Project!
