There are a lot of things that I want right now. But there’s nothing that I actually NEED. Not one single thing. I’ve stopped going to the mall, stopped perusing the internet, stopped day dreaming about accumulating more things. I need to get rid of my old things first.
So here they are, in no particular order. Everything is a want item, except the face cream. I really can’t go without it. I’m sure that in time, I will save up the money and get the best deal on all the items on my list. But there will be no impulse shopping because I know none of these things are crucial to functioning every day for me.
- Face cream – I ran out of eye cream 2 months ago, and night cream 1 month ago. I’ve been relying on my last remaining pot of day cream. Once that runs out, I’ll replenish all three. I’m using Vichy right now, and it’s working fine, but they don’t really have any eye cream options for me. I’m going to check out Sephora for different brands and what works with my sensitive skin. Potential cost: $120.
- Face primer – I’ve always wanted to try face primer because my skin starts to get a little oily in the T-zone area around mid-day. I use oil-blotting papers, but it’s not quite the same. I’ve been stalking a few on Sephora, so I might check them out when I eventually go in for face cream. Potential cost: $30.
- Brown knee-high boots – A total want. I’ve never owned brown boots before. I like these Born riding boots, but I don’t think they’re exactly what I’m looking for. Potential cost: $150-200.
- Work appropriate dresses – I currently have one dress that is work-appropriate. I’d love to buy a couple more, and am perpetually on the lookout … but I haven’t found anything that I like enough to buy. So the search continues. Potential cost: $60.
- New iMac computer – My current computer is about 4 years old, so it’s by no means dated. But it takes a lot out of it to run Adobe CS4 programs, and it barely runs The Sims 3. Meaning, once CS5 comes out, I am totally screwed. I’ve debated between a Macbook Pro or sticking with an iMac, but in the end a fully loaded iMac is a better investment for me – I do most of my design work at home, and I get more bang for my buck this way. I’m looking to upgrade my computer set-up in the next 2 years or so, paying for my new computer in cash of course. Potential cost: $3,000.
- Sports bras – Mine are looking a little sad. I’ve tried on so many different brands, but the ones that fit the best are Lululemon. I’m going to keep an eye out for them on eBay so I can try and snag a good deal. There’s also a Lulu outlet store just across the border – as well as a Nike outlet. I’d like at least 2, and as most of you know, you shouldn’t cheap out on sports bras. Potential cost: $60.
- Black skinny pants – Another want. I’ve been dying to get a great pair of skinny pants for a long time now, but haven’t found a pair that I really like. Potential cost: $50.
- Lift kit for my car + tires – Definitely a want. I’ve been drooling over this lift kit since before I even bought my car. I spoke with the mechanic at the dealership I bought my car from, and he said that he would install it and it would not void my warranty. But I gotta save up for it. Kit + tires + labour = $$$. Potential cost: $1,000.

My skin gets really oily too but I haven't really found a primer that helps that yet. The primer I use sometimes is by Smashbox.
Also, not sure if you're looking for dressy black skinnies or jeans, but I'm obsessed with the Hue "Skinny Jeanz" leggings! They come in a black denim look, are super comfy! You pull them on like leggings but they are thicker material like denim and have real pockets in the back. I have big calves so they don't feel like my legs are suffocated, they are $34 US.
don't buy that computer; Perhaps just reload your current computer or get your work to get u a computer
GlobeGirl: My computer doesn't meet the specs to run these programs, and I am not able to upgrade it either. This computer is for my own personal use, and for my side business, so I don't think my work would buy me a new computer.
The computer is something I am DEFINITELY going to buy in the future. Especially if I'm going to be partnering with J in his business.
If you're looking for face primer on the cheap, you should read this review:

I know it sounds weird, but it works great for me!
I've also heard pretty good things about the monistat!
I'm not sure which brands you're "stalking" on Sephora, but I've pretty much tried them all. My favourite is the MUFE HD primer, followed by Laura Geller Spackle. Your best option is to go into Sephora and tell them you are interested in trying primers and they will give you a few different ones in sample jars that are good for at least 3-4 uses each.
I love Lulu as well. Why don't you head to the Lulu outlet in Burnaby instead of the states?
#110-5560 trapp Ave,
Burnaby BC V3N 5G4
I also found my black skinny pants at Forever 21, less than $20!
I was also going to ask why you don't go to the outlet here. It used to be at Clark & 3rd in Vancouver but it looks like they recently moved to this industrial park in Burnaby (the Trapp Avenue addy that Anon mentioned). It's out Marine Way and then you turn at Marshland, all the details are on their site under Burnaby locations. Basically, it's about halfway between the Queensborough Bridge and Boundary.
I was just going to post the same suggestion that Anonymous #1 did, regarding the Monistat Anti-Chafing Powder Gel as Face Primer. I used Smashbox Photo Finish for years before finding out about this Monistat miracle. I was skeptical at first, but figured that at $6 per tube, it was worth a shot. If I hated it, no biggie, I was only out 6 bucks and I could still use the powder gel for jogging/biking.
Anyway, that stuff truly is a miracle. I LOVE it and can't believe I ever spent $30 on Photo Finish. This stuff does a BETTER job at a far, far lower price.
Do it Krystal!
I don't think what you need is a primer since you don't wear much makeup. Primer is used so your makeup doesn't melt off your face and to fill in crevasses on your face, although it will matify. What you need is a matifying moisturizer for your t-zone and another moisturizer for your cheeks and other sensitive/dry areas. I use CaudaliĆ©'s Vinopure Matte Finish Fluid for my t-zone and it helps control oil all day and it's all natural! Or you could try Dr. Brandt's Pores No More, another t-zone mattifier. For your sensitive skin on your cheeks, you could try Ole Henriksen's Nuture Me, another all natural cream for sensitive skin, unless of course you don't like the smell of orange creamsicles, then it's not for you. I use it and I love it – makes my skin so soft and hydrated!

Good luck!
Sports Bras – Target! The champion ones there are the same ones we used to sell at Running Room, but it REALLY cool colors. Like Hot Pink. And they are $16. I go to NY state a couple times a year and load up (I live in Toronto).
Ahhhhhh I so long for the day when my Wants are clothing related… I find those easier to handle, because you can afford to be very fussy and wait until you find exactly what you want. Since that isn't always easy, it's easier to keep the money in your pocket.
My Wants are house related… and bigger dollar figures. ick! Also just wants though… I can live without them! Great to read someone else's list!
Black skinny pants (WANT!) in Twill of course, not jean or anything else.
But I'd also want black skinny jean leggings — like what High Class Low Income is mentioning :P
Damn this clothing ban.
For a primer, I also recommend Tarte Clean Slate — it's pretty good. So is Smashbox, but it's more expensive.
And for a face cream, Skyn Iceland rocks for night time and Korres SPF 6 Rose is great for day.

Hats off to you for making a list..a good practice for many of us…the next best pracrice would be to define (as you did) what you really need now..versus saving for and buying later…Good job.
FB the skinny jean leggings are really cute! They actually look like jeans (not like fabric leggings printed like denim) and the price is pretty reasonable. At least here in the US it is :)
