Another relatively cheap weekend. Saturday we went to Garibaldi and hiked for about 12 km (approx. 3 hours) – I was on snow shoes, and BF was on his AT skis. Two of his friends happened to be there as well (on skis), so we spent most of the hike with them. It was nice to get the exercise (only the 2nd time snow shoeing this winter, so I’m definitely feeling a bit sore!) and to be out in the wilderness, but unfortunately there were also a lot other people on the trail. I would much prefer a more isolated feeling.
I filled up my tank ($41.36), and bought us lunch ($18.23) once we got off the trail.
Today BF wanted to go to Whistler to get some skiing in, but I chose to stay home. We currently have 2 passes to Whistler each, which I’m trying to save for our weekend to Whistler. If I used one today, I’d have to buy another one to replace it. Plus the cost of gas, it would have cost me about $100 just for a day of skiing. Not worth it for me.
So I stayed home and worked out on my Wii instead. For free. :) A moderate 60 min. workout – which marks the 14th day in a row that I’ve exercised.

I've been using my wiifit a lot and just found wiifitroutine.com, which has lots of different workout ideas and a forum. thought you might like to check it out!
If you are heading to Whistler without a lift ticket you can buy a discounted day pass pretty much at any 7-11 in the lower mainland, all the way up to Squamish. I think they are about $78 before tax. The 7-11 right on the highway in Squamish has them for sure.
Yay for exercising. I'm thinking of picking up the Wii Fit. Is it worth it? How challenging are the work outs?
Congrats,
I have never tried the WiiFIt before. Most video game players I see seem to use the Wii UNFIT!
honugurl16: It depends on how fit you are to begin with. It's not the most intense workout routine, so if you're already quite fit, you might want something more challenging.
I personally use it to keep track of my fitness (plus weight), and I like the variety of yoga, strength and balance games. And for more intense workouts, I use other games like EA Sports Active or Gold's Gym.
Evan: I really like the Wii Fit for all of the fun games, as well as the yoga aspect. For a real workout, I use other games … but more often than not I'll be outside hiking or doing something active.
Thanks for the advice.
Laura: Yeah I did hear about it. But I don't have the game, and it seems silly to buy another fitness game when I already own 3 … plus I'm going on vacation for 5 days and won't have my Wii with me … :(
nice! i'm planning to get a wii and wiifit as soon as i see a good deal on them so i can start working out at home too
I just got a WiiFit and love it, but it's definitely more of a tracking device for me. It has fun games, but they aren't particularly difficult. I am thinking of buying EA Sports Active for a tougher workout when I'm staying inside.
I have Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, and for a 22 minute workout DVD, it's REALLY tough! Definitely a good workout.
