Well, BF is just one step away from getting that work-related opportunity, so in light of this situation, I’ve decided how I’m going to split up the $5,000 in my Travel Fund. $1,000 – Travel Fund. Fully funded, this account will hold $3,000. Maybe even $5,000. All of my immediate travel has been paid for. I think next year I might be doing a bit of traveling – Mexico with the family, a possible hiking/kayaking trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands, and J and I were discussing going on a trip … maybe San Francisco, or NYC? $1,000 – Emergency … Continue reading
Now, I know what you’re all going to say. That I should buy a used car, because as soon as I buy a new car and drive it off the lot, it will depreciate in value, blah blah blah. I know all of this. But I want to buy a new car just once in my lifetime. Then I will drive it until it falls apart. Whether I actually end up buying a new one is another story. Chances are I’ll balk at the sticker price and end up buying a used one (which is so typical of me). But … Continue reading
Oh, and also on Saturday I tried on a pair of skinny black pants from Banana Republic just for fun. I’ve always enjoyed the concept of skinny pants, but knew I don’t really have the body type to wear them (I have muscular legs – usually pants are too loose around my waist b/c I have to get them bigger to fit around my man thighs). I’ve wanted a pair for about 3 years, but this was the first time I’ve even mustered up the courage to try a pair on. They didn’t look half bad. Although, they didn’t look … Continue reading
So, I’m happy to say that I stuck to my $300 clothing budget for the month, and I bought all of the things that I went down there to buy. Except for those Vibram FiveFingers. Seriously, how hard it is to find these things! REI had them, but in mens. Oh well. Here’s what I ended up buying: Mizuno running shoes. $110 US. I’ve never worn Mizuno runners before. When I was in college, a lot of the x-country and track runners wore Mizuno, so I know that they’re a good brand. Maybe not as popular as some of the … Continue reading
On Saturday we went down to Seattle. We had a great day! I love shopping in Seattle, because there’s so much selection and so many stores that we just don’t have in Canada. We checked out Outdoor Research, Mountain Hardware, REI, Express, etc. Aaaaaannnnd, we also checked out Tiffany & Co, where BF said I could pick out something for my birthday present! :) My birthday isn’t until next week, but we’re going to Tofino this coming weekend, so we wouldn’t be able to get down there. I ended up picking up this really cute open heart pendant. I may … Continue reading
