This month I had $50 allocated to Personal Care. Ideally I wanted to buy new face cream, night cream, eye cream, and face wash. Obviously, $50 isn’t going to buy me all of those things. If I bought my usual Avène brand, those 4 things would have cost me around $135 before tax. So I made the decision to switch to Aveeno (cheaper but still pricey), and began scouring the local stores for deals. The best deal I came up with was approx. $22 each at Superstore for the face cream and night cream, $25 for eye cream, and $12 … Continue reading
My birthday isn’t until next month, but my mom has already ordered my present! :) She got me Arc’teryx waterproof bib pants (for hiking in the rain), a really nice summit backpack (the one that I bought from MEC already has a hole in it after using it for just 4 hours – I’m going to see if I can get a refund), and a scarf. It was going to be a surprise, but she wanted to make sure she bought me the right size pants, and also if I needed/wanted them.
I was digging around in the files on my computer yesterday, and came up with these gems. Here are some photos from when I went on a short 11km round trip hike to Upper Joffre Lake this past summer (up past Pemberton – about a 3 hr. drive from Vancouver). Plus, we had an awesome camp site. In the first picture, you can see a little peninsula on the … Continue reading
I had this hair stylist. I went to her faithfully for 7 years. She was recommended to me by a co-worker a long time ago, and I loved her. She knew how to cut Asian hair, and even though she was pricey (approx. $65 after tip), it was totally worth it. Then she switched salons (she called to tell me). It was $10 more to see her, in a very inconvenient location for me, and the 3 times I went to her in the new salon, she was always behind – always late, always super super busy. Never had time … Continue reading
What would you do if someone you work with is a smoker, and always smells very strongly of cigarettes every time they goes out for a smoke break? I get nauseous and headachy from the smell. There’s not enough room to switch where I sit in the office (nor is it practical), and asking them to spray with some sort of cover-up smell won’t help either b/c I get a headache from perfume/cologne too. And also that seems kind of rude to ask. Oh, and there are also no windows where I sit. Any ideas?
