One of my life goals is to own my own business / work for myself. I’m not really sure what kind of business, exactly. But definitely not doing design contracts. I’d LOVE to open up a rock climbing gym (with a little store and a little coffee shop in it). I’d also like to run a B&B or be a landlord … or open my own niche sports store. Whatever it is, it’s going to be something I’m passionate about. No matter what I want to do, it will require more education. I’d like to get my business degree, but … Continue reading
Last year my sister and I bought my mom a 2-day guided kayaking trip for 2 for Christmas, and this past weekend, she finally got to go on her trip (it was originally scheduled in May, but had to postpone it until September – trying to fit it into her work schedule was nearly impossible). I won it at a silent auction for $350, and it’s valued at $800. My sister and I split the cost. It was the most expensive present we’ve bought my mom, but she LOVED it. She called me at work yesterday raving about how wonderful … Continue reading
Well, I got a $259 rebate deposited in my bank account today from Apple for my iPod Touch. Which is good, because my cell phone bill this month is a ridiculous $73.17! Argg. I guess I should have been thinking. When I was on the cruise, apparently I was charged $7/minute to use my cell phone (!!!). And I didn’t even get to talk to anyone – I have 3 calls for 1 minute each, which is when I tried to call but just got their voicemail. Annoying. Whereas when I was docked in Skagway and called BF, I was … Continue reading
So yesterday I received my EA Sports Active + accessory kit in the mail. I was really excited to give it a try after work. I decided on a 20 min. hard workout. Now I’d consider myself to be a pretty fit and active person (and over the years I’ve certainly pushed my body to the limit), but I was impressed with the game. A lot more impressed than I thought I would be. Within a few minutes, I was sweating. And this morning I even feel a little sore. I’m also really impressed at how many different workout options … Continue reading
As you can see from my sidebars and my NetworthIQ, I’m over half way to my $10k Travel Fund goal! At this pace, I will have it fully funded before February. *happy dance* Right now, I’ve got $650 being auto-debited from my chequing account every pay day ($500 Travel Fund + $150 RRSPs). So even if I don’t save another penny, I’m already automatically saving $1,300/month. And honestly? I don’t even miss the money. I’m so used to just spending what’s left over that I have no idea what I’d even do with an extra $1,300/month. What would I spend … Continue reading
