Back from hiking

BF and I went on a short weekend hiking trip back up in the Pemberton region (we were there earlier this summer too, but in the next little valley over). Our goal was to climb Joffre Peak (2,721 m / 8,927 ft), but when we went for the summit, all the routes looked kind of sketchy. And we had left our crampons and rope at the tent, so we couldn’t cross the glacier. We got to about 2,300 m though, and it kills me that we were so close!

It was a hard trek in and out. We camped about an hour above the hut (where most people stay). I was exhausted (and a little disappointed we didn’t get to the summit) by the time we got back to the car. But it was worth it. We’ll be back early next year to try a winter ascent. BF says it’s easier anyway. The views were incredible up there! If anyone reading this is from Vancouver or the surrounding area, I highly recommend checking it out.

The picture here is of the sunrise yesterday from our tent. Isn’t it gorgeous?
