As most of you know through Twitter, I got my iPod Touch delivered to me yesterday afternoon at work. So obviously when I got home, most of my time was spent syncing up my music, videos & photos. I also spent quite a while going through the apps available. Wow! I had no idea. So far, I’ve downloaded a bunch of free apps, as well as The Price Is Right for $0.99. :) I couldn’t resist, although I haven’t gotten a chance to play with it yet. I also upgraded the firmware, which cost me $9.95 US. I don’t know … Continue reading
This weekend BF is in NYC (he leaves Friday super early and returns late Tuesday night. I’m going back home for the weekend to visit family. Most friends are out of town on vacations, so I won’t get to see much of them. But that’s okay. I can just hang out and relax. Here is my budget for the weekend home: Friday $14 ferry $25 parking Saturday $5 gym $12 movie w/sister Sunday $10 gym $12 breakfast $28 baseball game w/dad ($14 per ticket) $14 ferry TOTAL = $120 Definitely more expensive than normal. I’d like to get my hair … Continue reading
A few of you were wondering which volunteering program I was looking at. The best one I’ve found so far is International Volunteer HQ. They call themselves “the world’s most affordable international volunteer organization,” and I would say that statement is pretty accurate. Their fees are about half of what other organizations were charging – yet they stress that they do not sacrifice quality. And I believe them, with all the good testimonial they’ve gotten. They have a really informative site, and they’ve been really quick to respond to my e-mail questions – even sending me information booklets in PDF … Continue reading
Over the past few days, I’ve been doing a lot of research into international volunteer opportunities while we’re away on our Big Trip. Most of them seemed relatively unaffordable (I mean they’re not unaffordable for us when you consider we make more in 1 month than those people might make in a lifetime – but unaffordable in that we might not be able to travel for a full year if we are paying thousands of dollars to do these volunteering opportunities – it seems selfish to even think about it, really). However, I just found this great organization that has … Continue reading
I checked the PC and ING interest rates today, and I was shocked. PC Financial went down AGAIN. Then again, the last time I checked was back in March, so am I that surprised? PC Financial is down to 0.5%, and ING is at 1.2%. That’s a huge difference! The smart thing to do would be to open up new savings accounts with ING and deposit my PC money there – then just keep on switching, depending on who has the highest interest rate. That seems like a lot of hassle, but then again, interest rates really don’t change that … Continue reading
