So I’ve decided that I want to give my sister a few hours at the spa for her Christmas present. The only other time I’ve been to the spa is about this time last year, so I think it will be a really special treat for the both of us.
I’ve been pricing out places, and I really don’t want to go somewhere like Aveda or a place in an okay-sounding hotel. Know what I mean? I want to go somewhere fancy, so she can have a great first-time spa treatment. Obviously there are some places that are too expensive for me – namely Bear Mountain, The Empress, etc. But I was looking at the Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa. It’s still fairly expensive, but definitely not as expensive as the other places I was pricing out.
For massages (50 min), facials (60 min) and a relaxing hydrotherapy bath (20 min), the total will come to $460 + tax for the both of us combined. And that’s actually not bad considering when I went to the spa last year, the total for just me came to $420. Did I ever say how much that cost? Well, it was a lot. But totally worth it.
I’ve never gotten a manicure or pedicure before (and I honestly don’t think I ever will), I don’t colour my hair, and I don’t go for massages on a regular basis. So to spend $460 to send my sister and I to the spa for an afternoon, that I can handle.
I figure I can pick up another design contract between now and Christmas, and just earmark the entire amount for her Christmas present.
