Final Budget for the Alaskan Cruise

My sister and I booked our bus ride from Vancouver to Seattle for our cruise in 2 weeks. The one-way adult ticket was $53.20 each. It would have been $44.65 if we pretended to be students (neither of us have valid student IDs, except my sister is going to be a student in September – and both of us look like we’re 15) … but we decided to play it safe on the off chance they asked to see our student cards.

Now that we have that booked, I think all of our trip is paid for.

Here is the breakdown of the trip:

  • $53.20 bus to Seattle
  • $459 cruise
  • $220 port tax
  • $123 government fees
  • $50 hotel in Seattle
  • $30 baseball ticket (Mariners vs. KC Royals)
  • $330 for $300 US spending money

TOTAL = $1,265.20 CAD

So, for a 9-day vacation, that’s not bad. Not great, but an average price I would say for a trip of this length. The $300 US in spending money I’m hoping will last me for the entire trip, including Seattle. And I think I can do it, too.

With the cruise, my sister and I also each get a $50 US credit to be used on board for whatever – tipping, drinks, etc. So I have a total of $375 US spending money ($300 + $50 credit + $25 I had saved from a previous trip).

$375 US spending money breakdown:

  • $275 cruise – drinks (we’re not big drinkers), excursions (we’ve got 2 picked out for about $45-50 each) + miscellaneous. I won’t be buying souvenirs – why would I when my mom just bought a ton of souvenirs from her Alaskan cruise (same cruise line as us)? Plus, I don’t need the clutter.
  • $25 Seattle – parking 1 day in Seattle + gas back to Vancouver (split between me, sister, BF.
  • $75 Seattle – 5 meals (l,d,b,l,d) + miscellaneous.
