Oh, Canada!

You know what sucks? Going back to work after being on vacation. Especially after being around such gorgeous scenery the entire time. But I guess this is just a 2-day work week, and then it’s the weekend again, so I can’t really complain. :) Yesterday was very relaxed. We unpacked our backpacks, did some laundry, cleaned up … then went grocery shopping ($47-something for my portion). A little more expensive than normal, but I bought a package of chicken breasts, some sausage, and also some ice cream. I also went to Canadian Tire so I could buy what I needed … Continue reading

Bought the LG X120 netbook!

Well, I bought the LG X120 netbook at Future Shop on Friday. After doing hours and hours of research, and waiting patiently for months, it was a deal I couldn’t refuse. The regular price of the netbook was $499. It was on sale for $449, but I was able to get an “open box” model for $349!!! I bought the 2-year extended warranty for $100, because it gives me full coverage around the world. I’m really, really pleased. I haven’t had a chance to play with the computer yet, except to turn it on and play with a few of … Continue reading

Grimface Mountain

Wow, what an amazing trip! The pictures don’t do it justice, they really don’t. Grimface Mountain was amazing, and I’m really proud that I was able to climb it. Day 1 – 7 hours of hiking up and through a valley. Day 2 – 1.5 hours of hiking up to the base of Grimface Mountain. We spent an hour or so exploring – which means hiking up up up. Other than that, it was a rest day. Day 3 – 5 hours of hiking up to the ridge and across to Grimface. Day 4 – 5 hours of hiking out … Continue reading

My July goals are a bit cushier than my usual monthly goals. My sister is coming to visit, so I wanted to have a bit of spending money – for clothing and entertainment. July Goals: Go rock climbing 4 times. We really, really need to get going with climbing. $400 into Retirement Portfolio. $900 into Travel Fund. $400 into Savings. Provide rough sketch and outline to design client. I am working on a simple project that should net me about $300. Make an extra $200. Organize August long weekend trip. BF and I both took a vacation day to extend … Continue reading

June Goals: My Review

I went over budget this month by quite a bit. A lot of it was unexpected expected expenses, but I also bought that netbook that I’ve been wanting! :) Here is how I did: Overages: Hydro – last payment from my old apartment. Internet/cable – last payment from my old apartment – but I should be getting back a $45-something refund sometime soon in the mail. Food – self-explanatory. I spent too much dining out. Actually, I think I did pretty good this month, considering the only reason I went over is because today (June 30) we ordered pizza after … Continue reading
