Lovely weekend home

I had a great weekend back home!

Saturday morning I got up early and went to the gym with a friend. She works at a rec centre, so she wanted to go to that gym (since she gets in for free – plus she needed to skip off for a bit during our workout so she could buy tickets to the Olympics). The drop-in rate for the gym was $9!!! I couldn’t believe it. That’s DOUBLE what I normally pay. The gym is nice and big and there are lots of machines … but definitely not worth $9. I was kind of irritated, so I had a great workout. :) Two days later, and my arms are still kinda sore.

After that, we went to my favourite breakfast place. I really wanted to get an omelet, but settled for a half order of another dish that was cheaper since the gym was so expensive. After tax and tip, my meal came to $10. I went home and showered, then picked up my sister from work. She works at a cute little café, so she made me a delicious peppermint mocha, and gave me a ton of baked goods for free to bring home (since it was the end of the day and they had to toss them or give them away otherwise). Score!

I went over-budget on my weekend home. Here’s my original budget, and here’s what I spent:

Friday
$13.50 ferry
$9.65 dinner (BF and I were supposed to have dinner together, but he had to drop me off at an early ferry b/c his parents were coming into town a day early and he had to go home to meet them)
$3.00 newspaper & candy

Saturday
$9 gym
$10 breakfast
$13.43 flowers for my cousin’s birthday
$4.48 batteries

Sunday
$50 hair cut (we had to reschedule our appointments from Saturday to Sunday b/c the dinner was earlier than expected. So I couldn’t get my regular stylist and nobody in her price point was available. So I had to see an intermediate stylist. Grr! At least my hair looks cute!)
$5.55 fancy bread for dinner (mom asked if I could pick it up for her)
$13.50 ferry

TOTAL = $132.11

I spent $28.11 more than I thought I would, but I’m still happy. I didn’t buy anything that was impractical, and I stopped myself from spending anything at the mall when I went with my sister.
