Frugal Dreamer just tweeted that she was going hiking today. It made me start day dreaming about our next hiking trip at the end of this month. We are going to climb Grimface Mountain (2635 m / 8645 ft) in Cathedral Park. I’ve been wanting to do this since last year, but we’ve never had the time. But thanks to Canada Day, we’re tacking on 2 extra vacation days for a 5-day long weekend.
BF said there are good rock climbing routes there. We’ll bring our climbing gear and hopefully get a day of climbing in after we summit. Then we’ll drive a little farther east into the Okanagan and load up on fresh fruit. :) Can’t wait!
Here is our rough budget for the trip:
$100 gas – 2 tanks. Over-estimating, but you never know.
$50 groceries – for 4 nights of camping (4 x 3 meals/day = 12 meals). Plus snacks.
$30 food – we’ll probably want a real meal once we get down off the mountain.
$20 fruit – yum, yum, yum!
TOTAL = $200 / 2 = $100 per person
Pretty good for a 5-day holiday, eh?
