Two Guys Around The World

I’ve recently found inspiration from Two Guys Around The World – it’s a website run by 2 guys who decided to travel the world on $10k. Which is exactly what BF and I plan on doing. The only difference is they ran out of money after 7 months, and hopefully by planning our trip and avoiding expensive countries, we won’t run into that problem. They went to South America and Australia/New Zealand – super expensive places to travel. Our only flight (aside from entry/exit flights) is going to be out of Africa. Where, we’re not sure yet. Whichever provides the … Continue reading

I’m probably going home for the weekend of June 6-7. I haven’t been back since mid-April so it’s probably time. There are a bunch of family dinners to attend, plus I need to pick up my field hockey stick and I need a haircut. BF said that he’ll be able to pick me up and drop me off from the ferry. That will save me about $20 in parking at the terminal (parking is still cheaper than taking the PCL), and he can use the car to run errands if he needs to. Usually going home is quite expensive. It’s … Continue reading

Sushi dinner tonight

This evening I’m going for sushi with a girlfriend. I haven’t seen her since February (aside from when she came to pick up me and my sister off the side of the highway after we got into the car accident). I’m excited to see her, and this also fulfills one of my May Goals, which was to hang out with a friend I haven’t seen in more than 3 months. I’m probably just going to order a udon soup or yakisoba, so it should be relatively cheap. I haven’t been to this restaurant though, so we’ll see.

Found the right netbook for me! :)

After much research, I’ve decided that the Asus Eee PC 1000HE is the best netbook for me. It has everything I need: 160 GB hard drive, RAM can be upgraded to 2 GB (from 1), and the best part – up to 9.5 hrs. of battery life (6-cell battery) – which will come in super handy while traveling. Plus, it’s affordable, and it’s been getting great reviews. I also would want to upgrade to 2 GB RAM, plus buy a smaller power cord, a neoprene sleeve, and a protective decal. I would say that after all the accessories, I’ll be … Continue reading

It was a productive but spendy weekend. I budgeted $500 this month for household items, and have spent $613.25. $95.72 of that was from the stupid U-Haul rental (plus gas), which I wasn’t expecting. So that’s pretty much my overage right there. I spent $94.05 this weekend at IKEA. I love IKEA because everything is so affordable (although not great for buying long lasting pieces). But I mostly hate IKEA. You go in with one thing in mind, and you come out spending way more than you anticipated. Same goes with Costco. BF built us a really cool joint computer … Continue reading
