I have once again increased my RRSP contributions from $175/bi-weekly to $200 (earlier this month I increased from $150 to $175). I’ll be able to do this without a real strain on my budget, since according to my rough budget going forward, I will probably have about $2,000 to save each month. My goal this year was to increase my portfolio to $25,000 (not including TFSA which is currently getting $25-50/month). I just logged into TD Canada Trust online banking and I’m sitting at $22,336. Provided we don’t see another slide in the stock market, I will definitely be able … Continue reading
It’s no secret that I heart Casey Serin. Well, he’s back! Check out his new website, www.bloggercasey.com! :) Apparently he’s doing marketing/promoting for a real estate agent in Sacramento. Good for him! I hope this fresh start works out for him. I think he’s going about this the right way – making money legitimately, instead of trying a get-rich-quick scheme. Although I have a feeling that we haven’t seen the last of his attempts at becoming rich (since he’s already sort of famous). He writes in one of his recent posts: This year is different… I’m living on my own, … Continue reading
I was Twittering with SF Money Musings today, and we kind of got on the topic of organizing a weekend meet-up of West Coast PFers (of course you East Coasters are also welcome) for sometime next year. Maybe May or June in Portland or Seattle, somewhere central. There are great places to camp and cheap hostels in both areas. Would anyone be interested in this?
Last night I went for sushi with a good friend from my old job. She lives in my new neighbourhood, so I let her pick the restaurant. It wasn’t expensive as far as sushi places go, but it certainly wasn’t cheap either. I decided to go super simple and ordered beef yakisoba and a spicy salmon roll. After tip, I paid $15. I couldn’t finish my yakisoba, so I didn’t really need the salmon roll. I’ll remember that for next time! Usually with my friends, we just take turns paying … but I’ve never been a fan of doing that. … Continue reading
This morning BF caught the bus to work at 5:40am, since his bike got another flat tire yesterday. I got up as well and went for a short 25 min. run. I hate running (especially in the mornings), but I’ve got to get back in good cardio shape for field hockey tryouts. I’m thinking that I’ll do these morning runs for a while and see if I can notice a difference. Unless I want to take up earlier (I don’t), I can really only work out for 30-45 min. before I have to start getting ready for work. Which is … Continue reading
