I’m probably going home for the weekend of June 6-7. I haven’t been back since mid-April so it’s probably time. There are a bunch of family dinners to attend, plus I need to pick up my field hockey stick and I need a haircut. BF said that he’ll be able to pick me up and drop me off from the ferry. That will save me about $20 in parking at the terminal (parking is still cheaper than taking the PCL), and he can use the car to run errands if he needs to.
Usually going home is quite expensive. It’s about $30 round trip on the ferry, but my sister always wants to go out for lunch and go for coffee and get snacks. Which is fine, because I love spending time with her, but it’s definitely a budget buster. Maybe we can do something cheaper like go to the grocery store to pick up goodies, or even do some baking together.
Speaking of baking, BF doesn’t have a stove in his place. So that means no more baking and no stove top. We tossed around the idea of getting a convection oven or some sort of table top burner, but in the end we decided we didn’t want to buy appliances that we were only going to use for a year. I have a George Foreman grill, and he has a table top skillet, plus a rice cooker/steamer – so we should be fine. We’ll just have to be creative. :) And that also means no more baked goods. BF wants me to do some baking in my old apartment before I move everything over (cookies, banana bread, and probably a pie). I think I should, since I have a lot of flour, sugar, chocolate and odds and ends that won’t get used in the next year. But it depends if I have enough time.
