It was a productive but spendy weekend. I budgeted $500 this month for household items, and have spent $613.25. $95.72 of that was from the stupid U-Haul rental (plus gas), which I wasn’t expecting. So that’s pretty much my overage right there.

I spent $94.05 this weekend at IKEA. I love IKEA because everything is so affordable (although not great for buying long lasting pieces). But I mostly hate IKEA. You go in with one thing in mind, and you come out spending way more than you anticipated. Same goes with Costco.

BF built us a really cool joint computer bar, so I had to buy a matching bar stool to go with his. We just didn’t have room for my old computer chair and desk. So the computer bar/chair idea really saves space. I also bought a cloth closet organizer (and the matching drawers), since space is super limited. I could have bought a cheaper version for about half the price (in ugly royal blue), but the one I bought is stylish enough so that I can use it for years to come.

I also spent $38.03 at Home Depot for some renovating supplies. Over the past 2 days, BF has been working really really hard (and spending a lot of his own money) to make the place livable. We still need to buy a few odds and ends, but are waiting until most of the renos are done and all my furniture has been moved over so we can assess space. We also have to buy paint, but not much since it’s a small place.

I will for sure come under budget this month. Thankfully I budgeted my June rent of $725, which I no longer have to pay. That gives me a little cushion to help with the costs of our place. I’ll have to consider the $150 rent for June, but I should also be getting my damage deposit back as well. So we’ll see how everything evens out at the end of the month.
