Found the right netbook for me! :)

After much research, I’ve decided that the Asus Eee PC 1000HE is the best netbook for me. It has everything I need: 160 GB hard drive, RAM can be upgraded to 2 GB (from 1), and the best part – up to 9.5 hrs. of battery life (6-cell battery) – which will come in super handy while traveling. Plus, it’s affordable, and it’s been getting great reviews.

I also would want to upgrade to 2 GB RAM, plus buy a smaller power cord, a neoprene sleeve, and a protective decal.

I would say that after all the accessories, I’ll be looking to spend about $650. Which is pretty much what I expected to spend.

Although I would like to buy it now (I’m so impatient), I think I’ll wait a bit longer. The money is budgeted in my Travel Fund to spend, but I still want to go into a store and play with it just to be sure. And to make sure BF is comfortable using the keyboard with his monster sized hands. Plus, it’s a little heavy (3.2 pounds), so perhaps in the next 4-6 months or so, another netbook will come out that has all of the things that I’m looking for, and isn’t as heavy as this one.

But who knows. I’d love to have the netbook this summer. Especially for our trip to Alaska.
