I just realized something last night: I don’t have to pay the $725 rent I budgeted for May because I won’t be living in my apartment anymore come June. Now, I’m not really sure why that thought hadn’t crossed my mind before, but I’m extremely happy because of it. :) For the past few weeks I’ve been stressing out because I’ve been spending a lot more than usual … but now I feel a lot calmer. And now I can focus my attention on saving money.

By moving in with BF, if I stick to my budget, I should be able to save close to 70% of my net income! Just the thought of saving that much money makes me giddy.

$2860 net monthly income
- $860 living expenses (see potential June budget – still needs tweaking)

= $2000 into savings
- $800 Travel Fund
- $400 Savings
- $400 Retirement Portfolio
- $400 Emergency Fund

I’m not sure that’s exactly how I’ll allocate my savings, but that’s what I’m thinking right now.
